Having worked at the Lassiter’s hotel in Erinsborough for five years, Carla Marshall was around to witness some big changes at the complex, when owner Paul Robinson was conned out of the business by his daughter, angry at her father for meddling in her life once too often. After pretending to be engaged to Oliver Barnes, son of the founders of the Barnes hotel empire, Elle announced, in front of everyone at their engagement party, that she’d left her father with nothing. When an angry Paul then tried to get the attention of Carla, but didn’t even know her name, she refused to listen to any of his demands, reminding him that he was no longer her boss and was pleased when, later, Oliver, who now part-owned the hotel with Elle, announced that he’d be treating the staff with more respect from now on, and would be sure to learn all of their names.
