When receptionist Caroline Perkins sued Lassiter's hotel owner Paul Robinson for sexual harassment, the hotel manager, Terese Willis arranged a settlement, and also planned for Paul and some of the staff to undergo a sexual harassment training course. The course took place at Charlie's bar, and kitchen employee Rachel McKee spoke to the group about her experience of being harassed in a previous job.

A few months later, Rachel was working as housekeeping staff, when another of the chambermaids, Rhiannon Bates, found herself reported to the Department of Human Services, for bringing her son to work and leaving him in the staff room. Rhiannon was convinced that Matt Turner, the father of her boyfriend and fellow hotel employee Mason, had reported her. But Mason did a little digging of her own, and spoke to Rachel, who confirmed that head of housekeeping Veronika Stephens has been very upset with Rhiannon leaving her son at the hotel, and it wouldn't be the first time that she'd reported one of the staff for something.
