After agreeing to host an all-ages gig for up-and-coming local band Red Cotton, Andrew Robinson was warned by his dad Paul to keep a close eye on his younger cousin Sophie, who insisted on attending as she was a huge fan of the band. Andrew was shocked when he spotted Sophie kissing teenager Corey O'Donahue, particularly as Paul showed up at the same moment and Andrew was forced to stop him from seeing. After sending a humiliated Sophie away, Andrew warned Corey to stay away from his cousin. Sophie, however, wasn't about to give up that easily and blackmailed Andrew, later telling him that she was going to see Corey again and if Andrew didn't let her, she'd tell Paul everything she'd been up to at the gig.

However, when Paul found out that Sophie had snuck out to see Corey, he tried to put a stop to the relationship. By then, Andrew had found out that Corey was the younger brother of Griffin, Red Cotton's lead singer, and, desperate to become the band's manager, Andrew encouraged Sophie to continue dating Corey, even as she began to realise that they had very little in common. When Sophie started to talk about dumping Corey, Andrew offered to get her autographs and time with the band if she carried on dating him, and she agreed. But realising that things were going nowhere between them, Sophie decided to be honest with Corey, explaining that she'd just been using him to help Andrew, leaving the deal with Red Cotton on shaky ground.
