After inviting some Swedish backpackers to stay at their house, 30 Ramsay Street, Toadie Rebecchi, Lance Wilkinson and Joel Samuels realised that they'd stumbled upon a way to make some easy money, and continued to use their home as a backpacker hostel. Meanwhile, Joel was desperately trying to win back his girlfriend Dione Bliss, having cheated on her with her friend Carrie, and met her in the pub one day, where she agreed to listen to what he had to say. As Dione noticed Joel's odd behaviour, due to his trying to keep the backpacker scheme as secret as possible, she was ready to walk out, and when two young female travellers, Shanti Pandya and Liz Guilfoyle approached him, Dione got sick of his lies and walked out. Shanti and Liz, who'd been impressed to meet Joel, the hostel's famous entertainment officer, were confused when Joel then told them that the hostel had closed and quickly left.
