As the Hancock family moved into Ramsay Street, they found themselves with an unexpected visitor in the form of Aleks Rama, best friend to the family’s youngest son, Leo. With Aleks’ parents away visiting family in Albania, eldest Hancock son, Matt, had told Eddie and Elena Rama that their son could stay, but then forgot to pass the message on to his own parents, who were quite surprised when Aleks turned up, complete with luggage.

Although Maggie and Evan were concerned about having someone extra to worry about during the difficult move, having soccer-obsessed Aleks around the place actually proved to be useful at times, as Leo had someone to play computer games with. Together Leo and Aleks attempted to convince Jack Scully, a neighbour from number 26 who had recently returned from playing professional soccer in England, to help them improve their game, whilst a game in which they pretended to be Ned Kelly and his gang prompted law student and neighbour Toadie Rebecchi to realise how he could win a difficult court case.
