The youngest daughter of Shane and Dipi Rebecchi, shy Kirsha found it difficult to adjust when her family made the move from the quiet country town of Bourke to the busier Erinsborough. Having always struggled socially, Kirsha found the thought of going to a new school and making new friends quite frightening, even hiding out in the shed in the back garden to avoid having to go to a sleepover at Tia's house. However, a friendship with Jimmy Williams helped her to settle in, and Kirsha was thrilled when her pet dog Clancy, who Shane and Dipi had attempted to leave behind with a family friend in Bourke, made his way to Erinsborough and was allowed to stay.

As Kirsha was slowly finding her feet in Erinsborough, disaster struck when she walked into the back garden, just as troublesome big sister Yashvi was setting off some fireworks, intended as a grand gesture to try and reunite teen couple Xanthe and Ben. As she was standing right beside the fireworks as they went off, Kirsha was left unable to hear. As it looked increasingly like Kirsha might never regain her hearing, the Rebecchi family struggled to deal with what had happened, and Yashvi was left feeling especially guilty that her typically impulsive actions had hurt her little sister. However, with Kirsha facing up to the diagnosis that she would probably never hear again, the family pulled together, learning sign language and encouraging her to join a support group.
