One of the nuns working at St Luke’s Hospice, Sister Josephine was on her rounds when she found identical twin Robert Robinson visiting his comatose brother, Cameron. Robert had led everyone to believe that he was nice twin Cameron, and the comatose brother was evil Robert, in the hope that it would allow him to get closer to his father, Paul, and get revenge for what he saw as Paul’s abandonment of the brothers, and their sister Elle, as children. Fearing that his secret was about to be rumbled by Sister Mary Catherine - who fortunately for him had left for a posting in the outback - Robert asked Sister Josephine if there was any news about transferring his brother to the larger, and further away, Mildura Hospital, offering to make a donation to the hospice to move the process along.

Some months later, Robert’s reign of terror was over, and Sister Mary Catherine was taking a break from the convent to reassess her life, living once again as Carmella Cammeniti. During a confrontation with her mentally ill cousin Teresa, Carmella had been left scarred after having a pan of boiling water thrown in her face, and Sister Josephine visited her in hospital, explaining that, after everything that had happened, there was no longer a place for her in the convent, but she promised to pray for her.
