Former Hollyoaks star Benjamin Hart joins the cast of Neighbours as Pepper’s knight in shining armour…

It’s a British invasion on Ramsay Street this week. As well as cameos from Little Britain’s Matt Lucas and David Walliams, Benjamin Hart – who played Nancy Hayton’s boyfriend, Foz, in Hollyoaks - arrives as Adam Rhodes, a new love interest for Pepper Steiger. And shortly after eyeing up Pepper, the handsome builder makes his move…

“Pepper happens to be on date in Scarlet Bar with a sleazy guy named Davo, who’s Karl’s new boss,” explains Nicky Whelan, who plays Pepper. “It’s going really horribly, so Adam comes to her rescue – but Pepper plays it cool with him.”

It seems the blonde bombshell is reluctant to let her guard down so soon after her ordeal at the hands of mad Mary Casey. However, laid-back Adam isn’t about to do any of the running, either. “Pepper’s still struggling to cope after she was locked up by Mary for a few days. She feels very vulnerable at the moment,” shares Nicky. “Adam admits that he wants to get to know her better, but she’s afraid to put herself out there – so the two of them kind of skirt around each other.”

When Adam starts a building job for Steph – who lives next door to Pepper – it looks as though there will be plenty of opportunities for the pair to cross paths. “He’s just the sort of person Pepper needs in her life right now.” Unlike her character, Nicky has no reservations about her new cast mate.

“Benjamin and I hang out a lot,” she smiles. “He’s probably the person I’m closest to in the Neighbours cast.”
