TV Week Silver Logie winner Kylie Minogue is starting a singing career...
Kylie, 18, who won the coveted Logie for Most Popular Actress, has signed a contract with Mushroom Records in Melbourne and hopes to have her first single out next month.
The Neighbours star will make her debut with a cover version of the classic Sixties hit Locomotion. The song was originally a number one smash for Little Eva and later covered in the Seventies by Grand Funk Railroad.
“I sing all the time although I haven’t taken lessons for a while because I’ve been too busy with Neighbours,” says Kylie. “We have recorded the song but now it has to be remixed.”
Kylie’s sister Danielle, 15, is one of the most popular members of the Young Talent Team and they enjoy singing together at home.
Plans were made last year for Kylie to record a single with fellow cast members Jason Donovan and Guy Pearce but, due to the pressure of work schedules, the single has been indefinitely postponed.
Beautiful Kylie, who began her acting career at 11, was also nominated for Most Popular New Talent in this year’s Logie Awards.
If her singing career takes off, Kylie dreams of fulfilling a special ambition.
“One day I want to sing at the Logie Awards,” she says.
