One Year Ago - September 2003

A new face causing nothing but trouble, and some serious medical issues…

 

• Max’s sister Izzy arrives in town after a spell living in Queensland, and is quickly causing problems, and manipulating the locals. A rivalry with Max’s girlfriend Steph soon develops, while she also manages to get herself a job as Coffee Shop manager and her own stake in the business

• Lyn’s post-natal depression gets worse, but she manages to keep it well-hidden from the family. Incidents including leaving Oscar in the car while she went shopping caused concern, but things came to a head when she was caught shoplifting

• Sky and Boyd start to bond more, but their problems begin when she joins Erinsborough High and is treated like a freak, causing Boyd to keep his distance. In the end, however, he kisses Sky in front of school bitch, Erin, and their relationship is very much on

• Steph is diagnosed with breast cancer, but continues to keep this information to herself, with Karl still frustrating covered by doctor-patient confidentiality. Her behaviour grows more bizarre as she announces that her relationship with Max is over and she goes to stay with Libby

• Connor and Stuart help Toadie begin to move on and recover from his grief, as they start selling strange items, like their toothbrushes, on eBay

• Taj moves on from Libby and begins seeing Edwina, the girl Jack had been secretly seeing behind Nina’s back. Taj is shocked to learn about Jack and Edwina’s affair, and is unsure of what to do with this information

• Lou receives a dodgy cappucino machine from Rocco Cammeniti, and when Connor and Toadie are forced to return it, they begin to suspect that Lou has become involved with the Erinsborough Mafia

• Stuart meets a man named Jonathan Verne, who encourages him to begin thinking about where his life is heading and whether he’s truly in control. He invites Stu along to a meeting of his group, named Life Mechanics…

 

Five Years Ago - September 1999

A new teacher, a missing doctor and the imminent departure of an entire family…

• New teacher Teresa Bell is interviewed and offered a job at Erinsborough High

Bill becomes worried about safety issues on the building site where he is working for Maurie Ryan. Although Maurie continues to ignore his concerns, and the other workers tell him to just keep his head down, things come to a head when the problems lead to Bill’s friend Sam falling and ending up paralysed

After posing nude for a calendar, Joel agrees to take on some work as a stripper, and works with Amy. Joel begins to develop feelings for Amy, unaware that she and Lance have secretly got back together

Phil is offered a job in Darwin, but struggles to convince the rest of the family that the move might be good for them. While Ruth eventually agrees, Hannah is determined to stay behind and move in with her new man, Teabag, until she sees the state of his house…

Karl and Susan’s marital problems get worse, following her time spent with Martin Chester, and they decide that counselling may be the only answer. However, Karl takes off to go bush, and then goes missing. When reports of an escaped murderer in the area begin to filter through, it seems that Karl may have become his latest victim…

Rival café, Grease Monkeys, causes problems for Madge and Harold, but they try to use Tad as a spy when he gets a job there

• Libby and Drew are finally happy as a couple, although the fact that he can’t dance causes them a few minor problems. Libby then begins to investigate the safety problems on Bill’s building site, causing more rifts in the Kennedy family

 


Ten Years Ago - September 1994

Lots of sad farewells, new arrivals and a shocking death in tragic circumstances…

 

• Gaby, Jack and Zac wave goodbye to Erinsborough, as Jack flies the three of them up to their new home in Darwin

Following some serious financial problems, Doug is forced to accept work on the Lassiter’s hotel in Darwin from Gaby, and he and Pam move up there, leaving Cody to lodge with Marlene while she finishes year 12

A new face, Dr Karl Kennedy, arrives in the street, looking into buying number 28 from the Willis family

Lata is sent away to stay with her aunt when her relationship with Brett is discovered by Vikram. As a farewell gift, she gives Brett Dahl the galah

Ren causes further problems for Mark when she crashes his van, then scores a job as Lolly’s nanny, and begins flirting with neighbour Sam Kratz

The residents all go away on a murder mystery weekend, but Phil and Julie’s problems aren’t left at home as she turns up and argues with him in front of everyone. She is found lying unconscious at the bottom of a tower the following morning, and later dies in hospital

Julie’s death leads to Michael splitting up with Danni, the return of Debbie’s bulimia and Philip being considered a suspect in his wife’s murder
