No 30: Gem introduces herself to Kyle, who rushes off to put the kettle on. Gem explains to Georgia she has missed her, and Georgia replies that Toadie will be glad to see her. Gem tells Georgia that she has quit her job because she wanted a change, and is not sure what she wants to do. Georgia calls over to Kyle, who is in the kitchen, that Gem could do whatever she wants as she is very talented. Georgia recommends to Gem that she should get a job in Erinsborough; Gem explains that she is only on holiday and wonders if there are any hotels nearby. Georgia immediately offers Gem a place at Number 30 and they hug excitedly on the sofa. meanwhile, Kyle is watching on, looking worried.

No 30 - Georgia's Bedroom: A little later, Kyle is setting up a bed for Gem: she apologises for lying to him earlier in the day. Kyle asks why she lied to Georgia as well, and Gem admits she was embarrassed for flirting with Kyle. Kyle urges Gem to reveal what happened earlier in the day when she reveals hat she and Georgia were best friends growing up, but Gem says that she wouldn't be able to face more humiliation. She asks Kyle to forget what happened, and reluctantly he is forced to agree. Gem says that she owes him, before heading out of the room.

Lassiter's Hotel - Reception: Mason is delivering dry cleaning when he bumps into Meg, who is exiting the lift. He tries to explain what happened the other night, watched by Paul from the other side of the foyer. Meg heads over to Terese, who is working behind the reception desk, and checks out. Terese is surprised as she is checking out two weeks early, but Meg says that the company will be paying, so it's not a problem. Marching over to Terese, Paul tells Terese Mason has earned his last strike for losing two week's business, but Terese says that Mason cannot be blamed. paul continues to blame Mason, but Terese wonders why the death of Jack Lassiter hasn't made Paul evaluate the way he treats people. Paul explains it has: that's why he is allowing Georgia to record her song for charity. Paul adds that Mason has been nothing but trouble, and he can't wait to get rid of him.

Erinsborough High: Susan thanks Kate for filling in a biology lesson. Walking into her office, Susan informs Kate that the teacher hasn't shown up because he had emailed his resignation from Japan. Kate explains she is happy to fill in until a replacement can be found. Worriedly, Susan says that Kate will find it hard to keep up, as she has a demanding schedule, but Kate replies that, because she has broken up with Mason, she has more time on her hands. Susan asks how Kate is, and Kate emphasises that the break up was the right decision. Leaving Susan's office, Kate's phone begins to ring. Kate answers it, and is surprised by what she hears.

No 30 - Lounge: Toadie hugs Gem as he asks how she is, and the rest of the family. Callum suggests Gem visits more often and Sonya asks where Gem is staying whilst in Erinsborough. Georgia tells Toadie and Sonya that she invited Gem to stay with them, and they both agree that Gem is very welcome to stay as she is family. Gem indicates she will be out of their hair when she has found a place, implying that she is planning to stick around for good. as Gem, Callum and Georgia head to the kitchen, Sonya asks Toadie if she heard that Gem was thinking of moving to the area. As Toadie confirms that seems to be the plan, Sonya looks worried.

Lassiter's Hotel - Reception: Kate arrives and is greeted by Terese. Kate asks Terese if Mason is really being fired, as she heard the news earlier on the phone, and Terese confirms the news as correct. Kate asks Terese if she really believes Mason is responsible and Terese replies she is keeping an open mind. Kate angrily says that she wanted to believe Mason wasn't hired just because he was going out with her, but that this proves he really was. Terese replies that Masons contract can not just be terminated without justification. Just then, Meg appears, ready to check out. Terese asks if there are any issues with the hotel's service, that are the reason for Meg's early check out. Meg shamefully replies that she has to leave because she came on to Mason and wonders if any harm has been done. Meg asks if she can apologise, but Terese tells her that she will smooth the situation over.

Harold's Store: Georgia is introducing Gem to Karl: Gem tells Karl that she doesn't want to go into another hospital when he asks if she is a nurse. As he leaves, Kate comes over and introduces herself to Gem. Kate asks how long Gem will be around, and Gem replies for as long as Georgia wants her there. Gem explains that she knows Kate loves dancing, and Kate tells her they should leave Georgia and Kyle at home and go out together sometime. Georgia interjects that she knew Gem and Kate would get along, both being gorgeous and teachers. Shocked, Kate questions Gem about her subjects and age range she has taught and is amazed to discover that Gem could slot into the science position currently vacant at school. Kate excitedly gives Gem Susan's number to call. Overjoyed, Gerogia asks Kate if she could do any better, recommending a personal introduction. When Kate agrees, they all head off to grab a table.

Erinsborough High: Gem, with CV in hand, is ushered into Susan's office, Kate wishing her luck as she goes. As Gem goes into the office, Kate explains to Susan that she has only met Gem that day, and apologises in case she was too pushy. Susan tells her not to worry as she won't blame Kate if Gem turns out to be a monster! Closing the office door, Susan begins asking Gem questions and scrutinising her CV. Susan asks Gem why she became a teacher, and Gem explains that she wanted to be a dancer, but when it fell through, she came crashing down to reality. Seeing Susan's bewildered expression, Gem apologises and adds that she loves working with children. Gem adds that she was drawn to the school, as she has a support network, knows it is a great community and seems a solid school. She continues that she misses her last school and the students; Susan replies that she is sure they miss Gem too.

Lassiter's Hotel - Reception: Paul is inspecting hotel linen, complaining to Terese about some guest's lack of respect to hotel property. Terese explains that it is a faulty washing machine causing the problem and berates Paul for continually jumping to the wrong conclusions. Paul tells Terese that Meg was lying to cover Mason and that he should have been sacked; Terese reminds him that Mason could have claimed unfair dismissal. Terese retorts that Meg was very complimentary and debates giving Mason a pay rise, leaving Paul to walk away in disgust. Just then, Mason, carrying champagne, emerges from a room behind the reception desk and Terese tells him that he is off the hook as lots of people stood up for him. Terese offers to carry the tray of champagne for Mason, who tells her that she needs to take it to the roof, as a sky writing proposal is about to happen. He grabs the torn linen, ready to take it to the bin for Terese, when he stops, looking thoughtful.

Erinsborough High: Karl comes in with a bottle of wine for Susan, suggesting trying a new Thai place as it is past dinner time. Susan runs through her busy day, telling Karl about the teacher who left and the fact that Gem came in for an interview. Karl tells Susan he liked Gem but Susan is more unsure, saying that Gem was nervous and seemed to only tell Susan what she wanted to hear. The two head off for dinner; as they go, Karl says that a relative of Toadies can't be too bad, and Susan reluctantly agrees, admitting she is probably reading too much into things.

No 30 - Lounge: Georgia and Gem are dancing around the living room. Callum sarcastically asks Toadie and Sonya if this is what he has to look forward to when Nell grows up. Gem tells Toadie and Sonya about her interview, but admits she was nervous. Georgia tells her not to worry, before she puts another loud song on and they start dancing. As they dance, Georgia bumps Gem, who cries out in pain, causing a worried Toadie to rush over. Gem says that she is fine, but needs to sit down, leaving Sonya looking anxious.

Ramsay Street: The next morning, Sonya is following Toadie down the path to Number 30, asking him if he is sure that Gem was alright. Toadie reveals that Gem had had a quad bike accident, resulting in a coma. He adds that Gem's fiancée had run off with another woman by the time she woke up, and the accident meant she couldn't follow her ambition of being a dancer. Toadie asks Sonya not to mention that she knows. In return, Sonya asks Toadie to speak to Susan about Gem's job to try and help her out. At that moment, Sonya calls good morning to Mason, who is carrying a bundle of linen along the street. Mason acknowledges Toadie and Sonya with a nod, and Sonya says that he's a strange boy. As Toadie goes to get in his car, Sonya tells him to make sure he has a nice day.

Power Road: A little later, Kyle and Kate are walking Bossy, Kate explaining that she thinks it'll be good for Georgia to have Gem around. Kyle reluctantly says yes, and when asked by Kate what he thinks about Gem, Kyle tells Kate that he doesn't know Gem properly yet. Kyle then asks about Mason, and Kate explains that Mason is over the relationship, though they both stop in surprise when they see that a large sheet has been put onto the wall, with a big love heart and "Take Me Back Kate" written inside in paint.

Lassiter's Complex: Mason excitedly hurries over to Kate and asks if she has been to the garage. Kate admits she has and that, although she appreciates the effort, the answer is still no. Kate adds that she thought she was clear with Mason. Mason asks if she still has feelings, and Kate replies that they don't disappear automatically just because they are not together any more. Mason jumps up onto a bench and loudly declares his love for Kate, adding that he doesn't care who knows. Kate tells Mason to get down and apologises to Mason that the only feelings she has for him are of friendship. Kate tells Mason that they will never get back together, before heading off.

Fitzgerald Motors: Mason is pulling down the sheet and stuffing it into a bin when Kyle arrives, apologising for giving Mason the wrong impression about Kate the week before. kyle adds he was an idiot for doing so. Mason tells Kyle that he is not an idiot; Mason himself is. Mason heads off sadly.

Harold's Store: Susan is on the phone, thanking the person before hanging up and sitting down with Karl. Susan explains that she was speaking to the principal of Gem's last school, and that the conversation was odd, because he didn't give many details, on the other hand saying nothing negative either. When Karl asks what they are telling Susan, she is unable to answer, instead looking incredibly anxious.
