Brentfield Park: Richard is shocked, and reminds her that he and Danny don't get on that well. He wonders why Max can't look after Danny, but she says that he won't
do it. She then breaks the news to him that Max isn't Danny's father, and she couldn't lie to him like she lied to Max for all those years. Richard admits that he had a feeling that might be the case, and he isn't concerned, as that was Maria's past, but he's
her future. She tells Richard the story of how she cheated on Max, and how Max has always had his doubts but she couldn't tell him the truth until much later, when he confronted her and asked her straight out. Richard realises how much Maria has been
punishing herself for so long, and asks her if she's ever going to tell Danny. Maria doesn't think he's ready to know just yet. Richard isn't sure it's wise to keep it from him, but says that he's willing to give Danny a chance, if Maria thinks that it's
the right thing to do.
No 26 - Kitchen: Scott is cleaning his camera in preparation for the wedding, and says it's weird to think that his brother is getting married. Danny isn't in a very
good mood, and says that it's about Richard again. Scott tells him to stop whinging about it, and just speak to his mum rather than keep pulling stupid stunts. Danny snaps at him, saying that he's sorry he wanted to talk about something other than the
boring wedding. He leaves, and Jim catches the end of their argument, and suggests that Scott come outside and start helping him to rearrange the patio for the wedding.
. . .
No 26 - Back Garden: Scott tells Jim that Danny won't even talk to Max about any of this - but says that Max isn't like a real father, someone who cares about his kids,
like Jim. He says that Max tries to care, but he always just ends up yelling - he also says that Danny is worried that Maria is going to end up marrying Richard. Jim then explains that there's little chance of that, as Richard is about to leave for
Hong Kong. Scott is delighted and rushes off to give Danny the good news.
No 24 - Kitchen: Danny is making toast, when Scott comes in the back, joking about Danny and Richard trying to find some common ground by bonding over toast toppings.
Danny has no interest in speaking to Scott, but then Scott tells him that Richard's moving to Hong Kong. Maria listens in from the hallway, as Scott says that he heard it from Jim, then he leaves to continue helping his dad with the garden. Maria then
approaches Danny and says that it's true that Richard is going to Hong Kong, but she wants to go with him - and they want Danny to join them too.
No 24 - Kitchen: Danny says that Maria can't go with a man she hardly knows, and says that she should wait until Richard comes back from Hong Kong. Maria says that he
won't be coming back, and she wants them to move there as a family. Danny says 'some family!' and asks if Shane will be coming too - Maria says that Shane is old enough to look after himself. Danny thinks he's old enough too, but Maria says that he should
at least consider the offer. Danny asks her whether she waited more than five seconds before she accepted, and then walks off, refusing to listen to anything else she has to say.
No 26 - Lounge: Julie brings some wedding RSVPs to Jim, saying that he needs to look at them. He opens the first one, but Julie says that she's already looked and knows
what they say, but there are still certain ways of doing things properly. He thinks that this must be the last of the replies, but Julie tells him that she's waiting on one more - from Aunty Gwen. Jim isn't impressed to hear that Julie invited her, and
hopes that Gwen won't turn up, and that Helen won't find out. There's a knock at the door, and it's a delivery for Terry, a wedding gift of a rather ugly glass ornament, which Julie thinks might have to accidentally get dropped.
. . .
No 26 - Front Garden: Scott is doing some practice photographs before the wedding, when Danny comes along and pulls a face into the lens. He tells Scott that he made
a mistake - Richard is going away, but he's taking Maria with him. Danny says that it's a joke that they even asked him to go with them, but Scott wouldn't understand. Scott offers to just listen, and Danny says they can go back to his place.
No 26 - Kitchen: Jim returns with some takeaways for dinner, and says that he called in on Max, who was all dressed up and going to visit Maria. He says that he's got his
heart set on a reconciliation and is looking forward to moving back to Ramsay Street, though Helen thinks he might be jumping the gun a bit. Jim says that Max was even talking about helping Paul and Terry to find a flat, and he seems to have mellowed a lot
lately. Helen says that he's just been forced to grow up, but Jim thinks it'll be nice to have him back living next-door, and everything back to normal.
. . .
No 26 - Lounge: Maria has called by to see Helen, in tears because she's so nervous about telling Max, and about facing Danny. Helen hugs her and says she's going to miss her terribly,
and Maria wonders what she'll do without Helen to lean on. She realises that she still has a lot of people to tell, including Shane - Helen is sure that he'll understand. Maria then decides that she's ready to go home and face things.
No 28 - Lounge: As Des cooks in the kitchen, Julie is helping Terry with her pre-wedding beauty regime. Terry is amazed that Max has given her the week off, and thinks
he's been in a better mood lately - they wonder if he's found a new woman. Julie is then appalled to hear that Des hasn't planned his outfit the wedding, but Terry says that she'd prefer people to just wear whatever they're comfortable in.
No 24: Maria is on her way out - she tells Danny that she's going to see Max, and Danny asks her if she's playing Richard and Max off against each other now.
Maria stops him and says she's had enough, she has a chance of real happiness, and the only person standing in her way is him. Danny thinks she's being ridiculous, and that she's choosing Richard over him, but Maria says that it feels like
Danny is forcing her to choose. Shane then appears, as Maria is talking about her chance of happiness, and asks what's going on. Danny blurts out that Maria's going away with Richard, and Shane says that, if that's what she wants, then he's
happy for her. Danny angrily asks why nobody cares about what he wants - and Shane asks him exactly what he does want. Danny says that he's staying, with his friends and what's left of his family, then leaves to go and visit Max. Maria
apologises to Shane for the way he had to find out, and she says that she's going to see Max now, to tell him. Shane realises that this is going to hit Max very hard.
No 28 - Lounge: Des and Shane are throwing a Kitchen Tea for Terry, with tea and cucumber sandwiches. Des then presents her with a basket of things for her
new kitchen. She's delighted, and Shane then asks if she'll have dinner with him that evening, as there are some problems at home, and he needs some company.
. . .
Max's Bedsit: Max is getting himself dolled up for Maria, when she arrives at the door. He asks why there's been a change of plan, but then
excitedly says that he needs to talk to her. She tells him to just listen to her - she explains that Jim only got things half right; Richard is going to Hong Kong, but he's asked her to go too, and she's seriously considering it. Max
looks devastated.
