Recap
• Burt Rawlings tells Helen that he's tracked down Douglas Blake
• Madge and Helen spy on Douglas, and Helen declares that she wants revenge
• Helen tells Jim that Scott's tour has been cut short and he'll be home later
• Jim and Lucy meet Scott's bus, but he isn't on it

No 26: Paul is on the phone, trying to find a date, and Nikki is listening in and asks him what's so important that he needs a date. He says that he has a business dinner, and Nikki says that it sounds boring, but when she hears that it's a Chinese banquet, she offers to go as Paul's date. He points out that he need to impress his bosses tonight, and so he needs a sophisticated and intelligent woman on his arm. Nikki thinks that his standards are too high, and she leaves, as Helen comes in from the kitchen, annoyed to hear that Paul is planning to go out on Scott's first night back at home. Paul explains that making business contacts is his first priority at the moment, and he's disinterested when Jim then arrives home and explains that Scott wasn't on the bus. Helen rolls her eyes at Paul's attitude, while Jim phones the school to see if they know what's going on.

No 22: Paul calls round, looking for Daphne, but Zoe explains that she's in her room and doesn't want to see anyone. When Paul explains that he just wants to take her to dinner, Zoe calls him insensitive, and so Paul then asks if she'd like to come instead. Zoe calls him rude and pushy, just as his reputation would suggest, and says that she's working at the coffee shop later anyway. She suggests that Paul should come back and ask her again when he's woken up to himself.

No 26: Jim has been unable to get any direct answers about where Scott is, or why the trip was cut short, and he and Helen are starting to worry. Paul then walks in and says that they're overreacting, and Scott probably just missed the bus and didn't have any money to call them. Helen, however, says that Scott did seem upset when she spoke to him and she's beginning to feel very uneasy about the whole thing.

No 24: Shane is cleaning the house when his boss, Mr Sanderson, comes to visit. He tells Shane that his antics have managed to lose a very expensive car, and that if he'd stuck to the company policy, none of this would have happened. He then admits that the car has actually been found, and that there isn't any damage, so Shane assumes that he can return to work. Mr Sanderson tells him that he can't, as they could never trust him again, and he's just called by to collect his uniform.

. . .

Daphne's Coffee Shop: Mike is trying to do his maths homework, and Zoe starts bugging him about why he didn't go on the school excursion. He says that they're not compulsory, and gets quite defensive about it, before apologising. He explains that he struggles to get any work done at home, and asks if it would be OK if he studied in the shop instead. Zoe says that she can relate, as her own house was a madhouse too - and she then goes over to serve Paul, who admits that he was a jerk earlier. Zoe reluctantly accepts his apology, and he then manages to persuade her to join him at the business dinner that evening. She goes over to tell Mike, and he agrees to lock up the shop.

No 26: Shane has been telling Helen about his run-in with Mr Sanderson, but Helen thinks that a young man like Shane won't struggle to find another job. He wishes that he had her enthusiasm, and asks her not to say anything to Max just yet, as he doesn't want to deal with that at the moment.

Daphne's Coffee Shop: Zoe goes into the shop, telling Paul that she won't be a minute. She checks the till and takes all of the notes from inside, calling out to Paul that it's just as well that she checked, as Mike forgot to bank the takings. As she leaves, she fails to spot Mike, sleeping on one of the seats.

No 22: Paul can't believe that Mike left all that money in the till, and Zoe admits that she's surprised too, and she'll have a word with him before she speaks to Daphne. She explains that Mike gets quite tired with school and a job, but Paul has little sympathy. Zoe says that she's had a very nice evening, and would prefer if he didn't spoil it now by going all 'executive' on her. Paul tells her that she got quite a few compliments too, and asks if she'd like to accompany him to more company functions. He insists that it would just be a business arrangement, and she agrees to think about it.

No 26: The next morning at breakfast, Helen asks Paul about his dinner with Zoe, as Nikki makes snide comments. Jim then comes in, complaining about how the school secretary wouldn't give him any information about Scott. Shane also comes into the kitchen, and asks Jim if there's any chance of a job at the engineering works. Paul is surprised to hear that Shane got sacked for using the limo at Des and Daphne's wedding, and says that he'll never get anywhere in life if he doesn't assert himself. Jim and Paul both agree to ask around at work, and Shane then heads off to the dole office. Helen tells Paul to go a bit easier on Shane, but Paul gets annoyed and says that Shane will never get anywhere if he lets people walk all over him.

Daphne's Coffee Shop: Zoe arrives and is surprised to find Mike in the kitchen. He claims that he stopped by on the way to school as he forgot some of his books, but she asks if it's really because he forgot to empty the till. She realises that he's lying to her about something, and asks if he slept in the shop last night. He tells her that there were a few problems at home and he won't do it again, but quickly leaves when Zoe asks if it has anything to do with the bruises on his face.

. . .

No 26: Helen is doing some alterations on a dress that Nikki has bought, with Nikki claiming that she would usually pay someone to do it. Helen tells her to drop the act, but Nikki says that she has to keep up with the rich girls if she's going to get anywhere at that school. Helen suggests that Nikki should stop being so extravagant with Laura's money, but Nikki says that her mother get free board at the pub she works at, so she doesn't need any spending money of her own. Nikki goes to get ready to return to school, as Jim comes in, and says that Scott has disappeared and nobody at the school knows where he is. Helen can't believe that Scott would do something like that, but then Jim tells her the reason - Scott's been accused of rape.

No 26: Helen wonders why the school didn't tell them about this sooner, but Jim says that the headmaster was going to speak to the boys when they got back, and when Scott disappeared, they assumed he'd come home. Helen hopes that he hasn't had an accident, but Jim thinks that Scott might just be taking some time out to think about things. Nikki joins them and suggests that Jim could try speaking to some of Scott's classmates, though they realise that he's become a bit of a loner since Danny left school. Helen then has the idea that Mike might know something, so Jim decides to go down to the Coffee Shop and talk to him.

Daphne's Coffee Shop: Zoe joins Mike in the kitchen, and again asks him if he wants to talk about his problems. She asks if he's avoiding something or someone, but he insists that he can handle things. Jim then comes in and asks Zoe if he can speak to Mike, so she sends him through to the kitchen. Jim asks if Mike can help him to talk to some of the other boys from the trip, but Mike isn't sure that any of them will want to get involved. Jim explains that the family is very worried, and that Scott took off before he found out that the police weren't going to get involved, so he needs to talk to him. Mike then agrees to ask around, and find out who Scott's mates are.

. . .

No 26: Paul is telling Helen about how he's made two sales today, and that more young people seem to be interested in superannuation. He reckons that he'll be able to retire by the time he's 30, and Helen is pleased that he seems to be enjoying the job. She then suggests that he might want to give some time to the family too, as six months ago, he'd have been as worried as the rest of them about Scott. Paul believes that Scott can take care of himself, though Helen thinks that he should be more supportive. Jim then returns and says that Mike wasn't much help, so he's going to pack a bag and go up to the campsite and see if he can find out anything else. Paul quietly says that it's a one in a million chance, but then adds that Scott might not even want to come home, even if he does find him. He accuses Jim of wanting to make blueprints for his kids' lives, like he does at his engineering company, and thinks that maybe Scott feels like a disappointment. Jim simply says that Scott is his son, and his responsibility, then leaves the room. Helen rolls her eyes, as Paul remarks that he just hopes it's not too late, for all of their sakes.
