Recap
• Des realises that Daphne doesn't want to get back together
• Madge checks into a hotel, observed by Douglas Blake

Hotel: Madge drops her handbag as she's getting into the lift, and Douglas rushes to help her. She smiles at him as she gets into the lift.

No 26: Des calls by to see Paul, checking first that nobody else is home. He turns down a beer, as he's sure that a rumour will start that he's an alcoholic - Paul tells him to just go overseas until everyone's forgotten about what happened. Jim then returns, telling Paul that he asked around the town, but nobody wanted to talk about the rape or Scott's disappearance. Paul tells his father that they should call a truce, for Scott's sake, but Jim says that it's a bit late for that, and he walks out of the kitchen. Paul then tells Des that his father doesn't trust him, or like him, very much at the moment - but that's his problem. Des, changing the subject, asks if Paul knows how Daphne is feeling right now. Paul suspects that she wants to nail Des's head to the coffee table, but that's not a bad thing, as, in Paul's opinion, Des will be much happier as a single man.

. . .

Daphne's Coffee Shop: Jim is visiting Mike, who hasn't been able to get any more information about Scott, as none of the kids want to talk about it. Jim is frustrated, but starts chatting to Zoe about how she's finding the work at the coffee shop. She says that she's enjoying it, and is almost wishing that Daphne would stay away so she could work there permanently. As Zoe goes to take some coffees to a table, Mike tells Jim that three of Scott's friends are back from the trip now, and he might be able to persuade them to speak to Jim, if it's in confidence. Jim says that he'd be happy with that - Zoe then tells Mike that she needs to go to the market, and Mike says that he'll do his best to help Jim, but he can't make any promises.

No 22: Danny walks into the house and demands the pay that he's owed, saying that he won't accept any excuses this time. Clive points out that he had to close the business, so he's short of cash, but Danny says that he needs the money, as he barely has enough to take Marcie out to dinner, never mind to Surfer's Paradise. Clive tells him to think about a cheaper Plan B - then suggests renting a cabin in the mountains. He paints a picture of Danny and Marcie watching the sunset together and snuggling up at night, but they're interrupted by Daphne, who walks in, spots Danny and slams the door, before going upstairs.

Hotel: Madge watches Douglas, and talks to Helen on the phone, saying that she's made contact with him, and he even made enquiries about the length of her stay. She tells Helen that she won't push it, but she intends to give Douglas just enough rope to hang himself.

No 22: Daphne answers the door and finds Des holding a rose - she yells at him to go away, and slams the door. She then runs off upstairs, and Clive goes over and opens the door, to find Des standing there with just a stem, as the head of the rose has been chopped off. Clive takes the stem from him, and closes the door.

Daphne's Coffee Shop: Marcie is standing at the counter, about to pay her bill, when Danny comes in and tells her that he's arranged a trip to the mountains. Marcie looks confused as he talks about it, and then asks Danny if he's met Danny, indicating to a man sitting in one of the booths. She says that Dwayne's taking her to Fiji, first class all the way, and then they leave. Danny wonders what sort of bloke would make the woman pay the bill, but then Mike points out that she never actually paid it, so Danny will have to.

No 28: Des is minding his own business when Eileen bursts in and says that she heard that he was back, and she's disappointed that he didn't tell her himself. She starts tidying up around him, and says that she simply cannot understand his behaviour at the wedding, before announcing that she's given notice on her unit and will be moving in to look after him. He tells her a couple of times that she can't move in, but she tells him that he's starting to show the same patterns of behaviour as his father. Zoe then walks in, and Des quickly says that Eileen can't move in because Zoe's taken the spare room. Zoe goes along with it, and Eileen declares that there's no hope for Des, before leaving. Des then thanks Zoe, who believes that she really is moving in and goes off to get her stuff.

No 26: Jim shows two of Scott's school friends into the kitchen, and they introduce themselves as Brian and Colin. Jim says that he wants to know more about what happened, and whether there's any truth to the rumours - he explains that what he's heard is that Scott was at a party, met a girl and took her outside, then her father turned up - and Scott vanished. The boys both go very quiet, and Jim says that he needs to know if it's true that Scott forced himself on this girl. Both of the boys say that Scott didn't touch the girl - Colin tells Jim that Scott took the girl outside, and they followed and started joking around, but the girl saw her dad turn up and started screaming, so Scott ran off. Jim asks if they know where Scott has gone, but they don't.

. . .

Daphne's Coffee Shop: Eileen calls in to visit Daphne, expressing her guilt over the whole situation and how she feels that she's failed as a mother. She asks for Daphne's forgiveness, but Daphne says that she should be talking to Des about all of this. Eileen tells her that it's so difficult to see her son be rejected by every woman he's ever known, but she can't talk to him properly, now that Zoe's moved in with him. This is news to Daphne, who's becoming increasingly annoyed as she chops some carrots, and Eileen decides that she should leave. Daphne then starts searching for the knife sharpener, shouting that nobody puts things where they're supposed to be - Mike comes to help her, but stops in his tracks when he sees that Daphne has found his sleeping bag. He admits that he's been sleeping there, and Daphne is furious and accuses him of taking advantage. Zoe then walks in at completely the wrong moment, and Daphne calls her a traitor and a vulture, swooping in on Des's house. They both try to calm her down, but Daphne tells them to forget it.

No 28: Eileen calls in on Des again, shocked to find him drinking beer in the middle of the morning, and again comparing him to his father. She says that she made Des the way he is, and now it's up to her to fix him. Des says that she can't re-programme his personality, and that she can't move in, as Zoe's taking the spare room. Eileen admits that she knows what's going on, that he only invited Zoe to stay so that his own mother couldn't live with him, but asks if he really wants Zoe - Daphne's best friend - under his roof, reminding him of what happened. As Des once again tells her that she can't move in, she says that she'll go, and she'll wait for him to contact her this time - but she might not be available!

Daphne's Coffee Shop: Mike tries to apologise to Daphne, and says that he just wishes everyone would stop fighting, and that Daphne would stop taking out her problems on the rest of them. Daphne points out that he's been sleeping in the shop, which was why she was so angry with him - and the rest of it is none of his business. She admits that it's very difficult to forgive what's happened, as much as she'd like to. She then asks Mike why he was sleeping in the shop, and he goes quiet and turns his back on her.

No 22: Paul calls in on Zoe, who tells him that she's managed to fix the overcrowding problem in the house. Paul, however, is more interested in finding out if she'd like to go out for dinner again, but Clive walks in, talking about how he's just enjoyed a nice, long bath. Zoe says that he won't need to snatch precious moments of peace from now on, as she's moving out, and going to stay with Des. Clive tells her that he wasn't serious about the overcrowding thing, and that she's welcome to stay. Daphne then returns home and apologises for the way she spoke to Zoe earlier, and starts giving her some tips on how to cope with living with Des. Zoe then asks Paul to give her a hand with her suitcases, and they leave. Clive, who's been listening from the stairs, tells Daphne that was very strong of her, but all Daphne can say is that she hates Zoe.

No 26: Jim is just finishing a phone call as Paul comes in, talking about how Zoe's moving in with Des, and it's going to cause a serious falling out with Daphne sooner or later. Jim, however, asks Paul when he's going to get the message that the world doesn't revolve around him, wondering if he even cares what's happened to Scott. Paul insists that he does, and Jim angrily asks why he isn't helping to find him!

No 22: Clive is trying to make Daphne see that she needs to make an effort to move on from Des. Daphne says that it's a bit difficult when he lives across the street, and then tells Clive that she's sick of him, and everyone else, telling her what to do. She storms out of the house.

. . .

No 28: After finding that there's hardly any food in the house, and realising that Daphne always did the shopping, Zoe tells Des that she'll go to the shops and get some essentials. As she heads out the back door, there's a knock at the front. He answers to Daphne, who asks if she can come in. She says that they can't go on like this, and they need to come to some sort of civilised arrangement, if only so that the rest of the street thinks that they're coping with this. He wonders if 'acting politely' is the best solution, but can't come up with an alternative. Daphne thanks him, and leaves, and Des looks shellshocked.
