Recap
• Daphne takes out her anger on Zoe
• Scott's friends tell Jim what happened on the trip, but they don't know where Scott has gone
• Des is upset when Daphne suggests that they should just 'act polite' around each other

No 26: Jim and Helen are watching a news story about a missing child, but Helen gets annoyed and turns it off. Jim says that he doesn't want to go to the police yet, but Helen thinks that they need to, as they're much better equipped to deal with these situations. Paul then arrives home, and asks if there's any news, before offering to help his dad. Jim isn't sure that there's much they can do now, and Helen says that the police would have more manpower, plus it's just going to get harder and harder to explain things if they continue to put it off. Jim sees that she's right and goes to make a call to the police station.

Daphne's Coffee Shop: Zoe has been attempting to cook pasta, that she already pre-cooked earlier, and Mike explains to her that she didn't need to pre-cook it and it's probably best that they throw it in the bin. He then says that he's glad that Zoe and Daphne sorted out their living arrangements, even though it was getting quite interesting. Zoe mentions that things will be interesting again soon, as they've got a new cook starting in the kitchen the next day, a guy called Les who used to be a shearers' cook. Nikki comes in and is chatting to Mike, when she mentions that she's about to go and see the Robinsons. Mike asks her to pass on a message - he heard at school that Scott was planning to hitch a ride into the city, then get a bus from there. Nikki agrees to pass the message on, and tells Mike that he should be managing the shop on his own.

No 26: Detective Worth arrives to see Jim and Helen - Jim is clearly agitated, as Helen asks the detective to sit down and have some coffee. Jim asks what they're going to do to find Scott, but Detective Worth says that he's seen a lot of cases like this, and the missing person almost always turns up safe and sound. He explains that he'll need a detailed description of Scott, as well as a recent photograph and a list of the things that Scott took on the school excursion, so they know what he could have been wearing.

No 24: Jim calls in, just as Max is trying to heat some soup, and is annoyed to find that his new gas stove has gone wrong. He suggests that they have a beer together, and asks if there's been any news about Scott. Jim explains that they've had to call in the police, and Max tries to raise his spirits, pointing out the amount of trouble Danny used to get in, but now he's working at the new bank with Des. He talks about how Danny has been lecturing him about his financial arrangements lately, wondering if Madge put him up to it - then he tells Jim that Madge has gone missing too, and is apparently staying at some posh hotel. Jim asks if Max wants to come and eat with the Robinsons, and they leave together.

No 26: Paul and Helen are attempting to make a list of the clothes that Scott took with him, when Nikki arrives. She and Paul snipe at each other a little bit, then they both leave the room. Jim returns with Max, and Helen tells him that he's always welcome to stay to dinner. Nikki returns from the kitchen and tells Jim about Mike's message - Helen then wonders if maybe Scott was unable to get a bus, so he decided to hitchhike. As Max launches into a rant about the dangers of hitchhiking, Jim starts to look very worried.

Daphne's Coffee Shop: Zoe is just finishing up the accounts, after struggling through, when Paul walks in and hands her a receipt from the floor. She looks at it and says that she doesn't want it, as the books are already balanced. He asks her if she wants to go out for dinner again - a little bit of business and a little bit of pleasure. She agrees, admitting that she'll be glad to get out of the shop, and they arrange to meet in half an hour.

No 26: Max is listening as Nikki tells him all about her school and its impressive tennis courts, and both Helen and Jim raise an eyebrow when Nikki mentions that she's thinking about going into modelling. When Nikki hears that Max is a plumber, she mentions that her friend, William Hughes, has a father who owns a steelworks, so he probably makes the pipes that Max uses. Max, unimpressed, changes the subject to Des and Zoe, and how she wasn't slow to move in on her best friend's ex-fiance. Paul then wanders in, commenting that Nikki always seems to turn up just before mealtimes, and he goes to take a shower. Nikki says that she doesn't care what Paul thinks, as when she's a model she'll eat in the finest restaurants - Jim then finally snaps at her to be quiet.

No 26: The next morning, Nikki appears, wearing Paul's pyjamas - she explains to Helen that she forget hers, so she'll wash Paul's and return them, and hopefully he won't even notice. She then apologises for upsetting Jim last night, and for exaggerating about her life, and asks if Jane and William Hughes could come to dinner one night. Helen thinks that it might have to wait until things are a little less tense, and Nikki agrees and says that William is a very nice young man - and he's already a director of his father's company. Paul then comes out of the bathroom, and Nikki quickly runs off before he sees the pyjamas, but he spots them. Jim also appears, asking if there's anything about Scott in the newspaper, but Helen reports that there isn't, so Jim decides to go and buy the local newspaper. He isn't impressed to see that Paul is dressed for work, and reminds him to leave a contact number, in case there's any news. As Paul goes into the kitchen, Helen berates Jim for his treatment of Paul, saying that it seems like he favours Scott. Jim insists that he's never favoured one of his children over another, and if Paul if upset, then it's his own fault.

No 28: Max calls by to fix the kitchen tap, making Zoe jump as she's wearing headphones and doesn't hear him come in. She's drinking champagne for breakfast, and Max says that she should be ashamed of herself, acting like nothing's wrong when she's moving in on her best friend's ex. Zoe says that Max needs to calm down and try the finer things in life - then hands him a glass of champagne.

No 26: Paul is complaining to Helen about Jim's attitude towards him, and then he shouts at Nikki to hurry up. Nikki emerges, ready to leave, and says that Paul is just annoyed that he'll have to fight even more for his dad's attention when Scott comes back. As she goes, Nikki hands Helen a plastic bag containing Paul's pyjamas, saying that they've already collected the laundry at the school this week. Helen doesn't look impressed.

River: A boy is fishing, and he starts to read his comic when he notices that there's something pulling on the line. He looks up and is alarmed to see a body floating by, so he runs off.

Daphne's Coffee Shop: As Mike walks in, there's a lot of crashing in the kitchen, and Zoe explains that it's the new cook. He then asks if she's seen his sports bag and she hands it over, asking why he didn't take it home last night. She asks Mike if he slept at the shop again - wondering why he doesn't want to go home, and if it's connected to the bruises he had the other day. She then asks outright if Mike's dad has been hitting him, but before he can reply, Paul walks in and loudly asks for some service, closely followed by Max. Zoe tells Mike that they'll talk later. Max and Paul then spot the new cook, Lambchop, and Max comments that he looks a bit brain dead. He asks Paul about the police car outside the house earlier, and Paul explains that they needed some information about Scott. Max assures Paul that Scott will be fine.

River: A couple of policemen are pulling the body from the river. They find a wallet, and inside is Scott's name and address.

No 26: Detective Worth arrives to see Jim and Helen, and shows them the wallet. Jim confirms that it belongs to Scott, and the detective explains that they found it on a body in the river - Jim and Helen look horrified. He asks Jim to come and formally identify the body, and Jim goes to get ready.

Daphne's Coffee Shop: Max and Paul aren't too impressed with Lambchop's cooking, and she realises that she's going to have to go and tell him. As she's building up the courage, Lambchop silently walks out of the shop - Paul tells her to make sure he hasn't stolen the cooking sherry. The phone then rings - it's Helen, asking for Paul.

No 26: Nikki is trying to comfort Helen, when Paul rushes in. Helen explains what's happened, adding that Jim's gone to identify the body. Paul says that he was certain that Scott would turn up, and that Jim had been overreacting all along. Helen says that she feels like she's been waiting for hours for news - she tells Paul that she tried to cook dinner, but all that she could think about was Jim having to identify the body. She then breaks down in Paul's arms.
