A mysterious man knocks on Room 501 at the hotel, telling the resident, Doug, that they need to leave as they are evacuating the building. A confused Doug
refuses to leave, saying that he is waiting for his grandson, who should be returning soon. The mysterious man then confirms to Doug that he is his grandson,
and Brad's son, Ned.
..
Everyone is busily helping out at the triage centre inside the Waterhole. Karl is looking for some fluids and upon his request Nene comes over with them,
however Karl is unhappy, telling her that she shouldn't be administering medical support. He allows her to go to the hospital to get more supplies but insists
that she stay away from helping any patients. As she exits Susan comes in, she wants to know more from Karl about what he was doing with Sarah outside the
hotel. He tells her that he was helping her exit the hotel after the explosion, but Susan thinks this is too much of a coincidence. Karl confesses that
Sarah was the person who called earlier for a home visit, but Susan is confused as to why he didn't admit that at the time, and what it is that Sarah wants
from him. Promising that he will find out the reason for her visit, Karl goes back to tending to patients, leaving Susan at a loss.
Doug and Ned are still in the hotel room. Doug is confused as to why Ned has come to visit, and he replies that Josh asked him to visit to help out the
family, but he only agreed to come as long as he didn't have to see Brad. Doug wonders if this has something to do with his will, but Ned tells him that he
isn't worried about that, he's more interested in helping to repair the fractures in the Willis household. Now that they have chatted and sorted things out,
Ned is keen to leave Erinsborough without having to run into his dad. Doug is still confused as Mark rushes in, concerned that Doug and Ned haven't left the
hotel yet. Mark asks Ned if he can escort Doug back downstairs, but Ned doesn't want to run into his family and asks Mark if he can take him instead.
..
At the Waterhole, Sarah is waiting for stitches to her leg, and Karl offers to do this himself. Whilst she's been waiting Sarah has been watching Karl tend
to the injured hospital guests and tells him that he's doing a wonderful job. Karl is still puzzled as to why she has contacted him, and Sarah replies that
it is complicated. He tells Sarah that it is very hard for him and Susan to move on with her showing up unannounced, but she insists that it wasn't her
intention to hurt anyone. She thought that their relationship was back to normal after her last visit, but Karl tells her that he doesn't think things
between them will ever be okay.
Outside Harold's, Susan is talking to Lauren about Sarah's surprise return to Erinsborough, and her annoyance about Karl arranging a meeting with Sarah and
not telling her. She then puts things into perspective after the events of the previous few hours and wonders how Terese and Brad are coping after the loss
of Josh. Lauren mentions that she has just been speaking to Amber on the phone and tells Susan that she is understandably devastated at Josh's passing.
..
Also in the complex are Nene and Amy, Nene still unhappy with Karl's instructions not to provide medical assistance, believing that despite her work issues
she could still provide practical help to treating guests. Amy says that she shouldn't take it personally, telling her that she is taking a break from
nursing and therefore shouldn't be surprised at Karl's stance. She also says that Nene should stop thinking about trivial matters considering the greater
losses that other people have suffered due to the hotel explosion, and angrily tells her to stop being so self-absorbed.
Brad is lost in thought as he takes in the scene of chaos at the Lassiters complex where his son died, to the point where he can't hear Mark calling his
name. Mark has brought Doug out of the hotel and Brad is relieved, he asks his father where he has been and Doug tells him he has been at the hotel. Doug
then asks if Josh is okay, as he was keen to talk to Brad about his move to Queensland. Just as Brad tries to break the news of Josh's death, Doug mentions
Ned's visit. Brad thinks that Doug is confused as they haven't seen Ned in several years and tells him that they should go to the hospital to get him
checked out.
..
Outside the hotel Ned has also made his way out, helping a hotel guest on his way. Mark comes over to thank him for his help earlier and asks him if he
can keep assisting with guest evacuations. Ned spots Doug and Brad across the complex but agrees that he will stay to help, keeping his head down as he
goes back inside.
At the hospital, Paige runs into Imogen, who had been waiting with Daniel before his surgery. They are both worried about Doug and Imogen asks Paige if
he has been found yet, but she responds that he hasn't. Paige says that she feels numb and asks Imogen how she is doing, but Imogen says that she feels
like she is living in a nightmare after her brother's death. Imogen decides to go outside whilst Daniel has his surgery, and Paige promises to inform her
of any updates on the whereabouts of Doug. As she leaves Paige spots the man who rescued her from the explosion - he is unconscious and strapped up to a
breathing machine in one of the hospital rooms. She whispers a 'thank you' under her breath at the man who saved her life, as one of the nurses comes over
to ask if she knows him. Paige explains to the nurse that he rescued her from the explosion, but she doesn't know who is and asks if he is okay. The nurse
tells her she can't discuss his condition as she isn't family, so Paige leaves the hospital to try and find his next of kin. As she leaves Nene enters the
man's room, wearing a nurse's uniform despite not being allowed to practise, and speaks to the man.
..
The Waterhole is still busy with patients receiving treatment as Susan and Tyler continue to help. Susan sees Sarah sitting at the back of the pub and goes
over to speak to her, surprised that she has returned to Erinsborough. Sarah asks Susan if she is worried that something happened between her and Karl in
the hotel room, but Susan replies that she has complete trust in her husband and knows nothing untoward happened. Sarah asks her why there is tension
between them if she knows that Karl hasn't been unfaithful, and Susan is unhappy to learn that Sarah has been spying on them from afar. Sarah then mentions
that she has been to see Mal, Catherine and Susannah in London but Susan cuts to the chase and asks her what she is doing in Erinsborough. Sarah tells her
that she has some business to attend to and Susan tersely remarks that she hopes the business is dealt with quickly so that she can head back home.
Back at the hospital, Paige is on the phone with Brad, who is telling her that Doug has been found and they are on the way there to get him treated. She
goes back to look in on the man who saved her and asks the nurse if she can at least give her his name, however the nurse doesn't know as he didn't have
any ID. Paige is still wondering if she can get hold of anyone to let them know he's in the hospital. After speaking to Paige the nurse goes into the man's
room, and bumps into Nene. She doesn't recognize her, and Nene hurriedly explains that she was sent from a temp agency. The nurse seems pleased and gives
Nene some instructions about giving the man his diuretics, however once she leaves Nene looks confused and overwhelmed as to how to administer the medicine.
..
Ned is still helping out at the complex and bumps into Hilary Robinson. She says that she has already been looked after but thanks Ned, calling him a good
boy. Ned tells her that she wouldn't be saying that if she really knew him, but before Hilary can ask why Karl rushes over to make sure she is okay. As Karl
tends to Hilary's injuries Ned asks after Doug - Karl isn't sure why he's interested but tells him that Doug was coherent and able to walk the last he saw
of him. He then discloses the news to Ned that Josh died in the hotel explosion, which leaves Ned reeling as he quickly heads off.
In the man's hospital room, Nene is still struggling with the instructions given to her by the nurse and is desperately leafing through his hospital notes
to assist her in administering the medicine. As she is about to give him his diuretics Paige walks in, confused to see Nene working there as she thought she
wasn't practising anymore. Nene quickly covers herself, explaining that the agency she works for is understaffed and they needed some locum cover at
Erinsbrough Hospital. Paige doesn't believe the story and asks Nene if she has told the hospital that she shouldn't be working, becoming concerned when
Nene admits no one knows she is volunteering there. Fearful for the man's life, Paige quickly calls a nurse over to help, allowing Nene to make her escape
from the room.
..
At the Waterhole, Susan is talking to Karl about Sarah and reassures him that she knows nothing happened between them in the hotel room. She is upset
however that Karl didn't tell her that Sarah was back in Erinsborough and that he was going to visit her. Karl admits that he was naive in not being honest
with her but defends himself by saying he didn't disclose Sarah's visit due to what happened during his meetings with Nene and Susan's suspicions. Susan
tells Karl that she never questioned his fidelity during his meetings with Nene whereas Sarah is a different situation due to their past history and her
being a reminder of the time when Karl was unfaithful. Susan doesn't agree with Karl's explanations that he wanted to deal with Sarah's problems privately
without worrying her, telling him that he was wrong in his approach and should just admit it. Karl half-heartedly apologies without any feeling and Susan
angrily walks off, as Sarah spies on them from across the room.
Imogen is sitting with Daniel at the hospital having come out of surgery. Daniel says that he doesn't feel well but Imogen tells him it is probably just
the anaesthetic wearing off and that the operation was a success. She doesn't want any more bad news after what happened with Josh, and upon mentioning him
Daniel says that he feels bad that he survived, and Josh didn't. He asks Imogen if she will end up hating him because of what happened but teary-eyed, she
tells him not to think like that. She wants them to just be happy together and grateful that they have one another.
..
Outside Lassiters we see Jacka, one of Steph's biker friends, leave the hotel with a cash box under his arm. As he walks past Brad and Doug are still at
the complex, Doug having refused to get into an ambulance for the fourth time. Doug insists that he is okay, but Brad isn't convinced and tells him he should
go to the hospital to get checked out. Brad is also concerned as Doug brings up Ned again, asking him if he made it out of the hotel okay - Brad being
unaware that Ned is also in the complex area. Doug refuses to leave until they find Ned, but Brad implores him to do as he says and go to the hospital with
him to get treatment. Suddenly Doug sees Ned, but Brad is sure that his father's mind is playing tricks on him and refuses to pander to his fantasies.
Holding his head in despair Brad slowly turns around, and he is shocked to see that his son is indeed walking towards him. As Doug looks on a shocked Brad
goes over to greet his son, and pulls him into a loving embrace, Ned unsure whether he wants to reciprocate these feelings. Doug looks joyful and teary-eyed
seeing his son and grandson reuniting, but the stress and excitement of the situation is too much for him and he collapses on to the ground, a distressed
Brad calling out his father's name.
An upset Nene is rushing past HaroldŐs looking for Amy and is relieved to see her coming out of The Waterhole. Amy asks her why she is wearing a hospital
uniform and Nene tearfully tells her that she went to the hospital to help treat injured guests as it felt like a calling. She goes on to tell her about
the unknown man and her confusion over the correct way to treat him, followed by Paige coming into the room and accusing her of practising under false
pretences. Amy asks her if she made a mistake at the hospital and is astonished when Nene is unable to clarify what happened. She implores her mother
to try and remember whether she gave the man the correct treatment or not.
..
At the hospital, Paige asks the nurse if the man is okay after being tended to by Nene Đ the nurse says that he's fine but she just needs to make some
final checks.
Amy calls Paige to enquire about the man, and Paige tells her that he will be okay, as a distressed Nene watches on. Relieved that her actions did not
have any consequences for the man, Nene apologises to Amy for what she did. Amy however isn't happy and reminds her about what happened with Doug. Nene
agrees that she needs help and promises that she won't try to nurse anyone else, but Amy is distracted by thoughts of Kyle and starts crying. She tells
her mum that he has left her to be with Georgia, and they both cry together at their difficult situations.
..
The nurse has finished checking on the unknown man and leaves the room, allowing Paige to speak to him alone despite him still being unconscious. She
tells him that she wishes she knew what his name was, upset that he saved her life but there is no one around to save his. Talking about the terrible
death of Josh that happened earlier today, she tells the man that she won't let anything else bad happen and will wait with him until either he wakes
up or somebody comes to find him, feeling sad as she makes her promise to him.
Mark is at the triage centre at the Waterhole and runs into Susan, he thanks her and Karl for their efforts in assisting with the relief effort. She
says that it is no trouble at all before going over to see Lauren. Lauren asks her if she managed to sort things out with Karl, but Susan is still annoyed
that he decided to keep Sarah's arrival a secret for reasons she cannot quite understand. Lauren assures Susan that she has nothing to worry about with
Karl's faithfulness, but Susan is more concerned with Sarah's motives for visiting Erinsborough, wondering what it is that she wants from them.
..
Barefoot and holding her high heels, Sarah is walking down Ramsay Street as she takes in her familiar surroundings, looking purposeful as she ponders
her next move.
..
..
Outside the hotel, Karl is desperately trying to revive Doug, but he's not responding to his chest compressions. Brad and Ned will their father and
grandfather to fight for his life, but even with the use of a defibrillator Doug doesn't respond. Karl tearfully apologises to Brad and Ned as Doug
passes away, saying that he did all he could to save him. Karl walks away to allow Brad and Ned to grieve for the loss of another family member, whilst
in the background a ghostly figure of the now departed Doug appears behind them. He looks happy that Brad and Ned have been reunited as he walks off into
the twilight, his figure gradually dissolving as he does so.
