Mrs Collins Marie-Therese Byrne
Mrs Collins 1985
Marital Status: Mr Collins
When Maria Ramsay was asked to help out at the Community Justice Centre - an organisation that helped solve disputes between neighbours - she was given the
task of translating for a difficult Czech couple, Mr and Mrs Novak. Maria quickly became frustrated with the Novaks, who were very rude about Australia and the people in the country, and
particularly their neighbours, Mr and Mrs Collins. The next day, Tom Warren, who ran the centre, and Helen Daniels, Maria's friend who volunteered there, arranged for the Novak and Collins
couples to come to a meeting, where Maria would help again with the translation. It emerged that Mrs Novak had accidentally turned her hose on the Collins' new car, when they were cleaning it and the doors were open. When Mr Novak had gone to see
Mr Collins to apologise, the language barrier had prevented him from being understood, and the feud had escalated. After realising the mix-up, they all felt very foolish and agreed to put it behind them.
