Adoptive father to Scott Robinson’s girlfriend Kim, and husband to teacher Marcia, accountant Neil was a lot more easy going than his wife, but struggled to speak out against any of her decisions. When Marcia banned Kim from going to the cinema with her friends, Kim was disappointed when her dad failed to defend her, reasoning that Marcia only had her daughter’s best interests at heart. Later, when Neil tried to talk his wife into allowed Kim to bring some friends home once in a while, he was once again overruled. However, when a prank at school went wrong and Marcia mistakenly believed that Scott had raped Kim, Neil this time overruled his wife, determined to get to the bottom of the matter before Marcia involved the police. When Scott struggled to explain that he was in love with Kim, but that they hadn’t had sex, the Taylors refused to believe that his intentions were good and threw him out, resulting in a horrified Kim running away from home. As weeks and months passed with Kim living rough on the streets and refusing to contact home, Neil and Marcia moved away from the area, though eventually Scott helped them to save Kim, pregnant and alone, from her horrible new life.
