After winning tickets to a Michael Jackson concert in London, Rick Alessi and Debbie Martin travelled to the city where they had a run-in with young pickpocket George Carter whilst out sightseeing. Rick and Debbie eventually found out that George was stealing to try and raise the money for Michael Jackson tickets for his younger brother, Terry, who was dying from leukaemia. Rick and Debbie decided to give their tickets away and make the boy’s dream come true, but also took a trip to Wembley Arena, where the concert was being held and managed to sneak in an open door. Once inside, they bumped into Eddie Garcia and Jennifer Batten, two members of Michael’s band, who gave them a behind-the-scenes tour of the venue.

Jennifer Batten rose to fame in the 1980s for her skills as a guitarist, beating over 100 other musicians for the chance to become part of Michael Jackson’s band on his Bad, Dangerous and HIStory tours. She spent three years touring with Jeff Beck in the late 1990s and has released two solo albums, Above, Below and Beyond and Jennifer Batten’s Tribal Rage – Momentum and is currently working on a third, due for a 2006 release. In 2010, she was delighted to meet Alice.
