|
No 32: Bailey shows Jayden and an assortment of his friends into the back garden, pointing out the alcohol left over from the party.
Jayden compliments Bailey on the outside area, revealing that his back yard is concreted over. He wonders how Bailey managed to end up alone with such a good set up, and Bailey explains that nobody will be home for hours,
although his parents would freak out if they knew he was hosting a party. Jayden points out that it is not strictly a party and that it serves Matt and Lauren right for leaving Bailey with such a terrible job. Bailey eventually
agrees and Jayden heads over to the alcohol.
The Waterhole: Sheila is trying to reassure Paul that the police know what they are doing, as they have ruled out Sienna, although Paul retorts
that he doesn't need to know who didn't shoot Kate but who did. Paul tells Sheila he is not impressed that Matt has abandoned his job to go away on honeymoon: Sheila replies that Paul needs to back off and leave the police to their job.
Sheila adds that Paul needs to remember that the police do care about the case, but don't have the same emotional attachment as Paul does.
Harold's Store: Josie is being urged by Callum to talk to Bailey, Callum explaining that Bailey is hurting after the break up. Josie replies that talking
to Bailey won't change anything but Callum explains that he thinks something is going on with Bailey. Josie wonders if Callum could do it instead; Callum tells her that he tried and got nowhere. Adding that he doesn't know what else to do
forces Josie to agree to go and see Bailey. Meanwhile, Naomi is looking at some Internet dating profiles, discussing each with Chris and Georgia. Settling on a profile of a person named "Eco Warrior", Chris jokes that the profile would match Sonya
perfectly. Gerogia comments that it was lucky Toadie got there first and Naomi demands to see the profile. As Chris tells Naomi they wouldn't be suited, Naomi replies that she needs to mix things up a bit.
No 30: Brennan is feeding Nell: Sonya apologises when the food goes everywhere. As Brennan begins wiping the food off himself, there is a knock at the door and Sonya
calls Toadie to go and answer it. Naomi comes in and says she has a favour to ask Toadie and Sonya, going on to wonder what they are doing that evening. Toadie asks why Naomi is asking and Naomi replies that she would like to invite them on a double
date, revealing her last date was a disaster and she could do with some help. Sonya quickly suggests taking Chris and Georgia instead, although Brennan explains that Chris is going to the movies instead. Naomi tries to convince Sonya by telling her
that she needs her there as her date knows all about plants and such matters and that Toadie is actually an add-on. Sonya tries to back out, saying how tired she is, up Toadie points out that it could be fun and that Callum could babysit Nell if
they asked. Sonya eventually agrees to the date and they agree to meet at The Waterhole at seven.
No 32: Josie arrives in the back garden to find Bailey, Jayden and his friends play fighting with all the pool equipment. She demands to know what is
going on and when Bailey replies they are having a gathering, Josie goes to head off, telling Bailey she'd come back later. Bailey stops Josie leaving explaining that he didn't think she would talk to him again. Josie asks if Bailey's mates
would mind and after he has reassured her they won't she agrees to stay for a bit.
The Waterhole: Sheila compliments Naomi, pointing out how good she looks and how pleased she is that Naomi is following through with the Internet dating.
Sheila is perplexed that Naomi hasn't yet spoken to her date, but Naomi explains that she wants to get to know her date face to face and that she is bringing along Toadie and Sonya to help her on the date. Sheila looks slightly confused as Naomi
heads off to find a table. Meanwhile, Brennan collects his takeaway and is immediately collared by Paul, who asks to speak with Brennan. Paul offers Brennan a proposition to do with Kate; Brennan replies he won't discuss it in The Waterhole but
agrees to meet with Paul at Number 24 an hour later. Sheila demands to know what Paul is planning; Paul replies he is going to fix things once and for all.
No 32: Bailey, Jayden and his friends are in the kitchen, playing around to blaring music. Josie is sitting at the table looking bored when Bailey goes to head over.
He is beaten to Josie by Jayden, who starts talking about the weekend. Bailey frustratedly sits down on the sofa.
The Waterhole: The double date is generally going well when Naomi brings up the subject of trees. Sonya happily chats away about her nursery and plants in general,
when James, Naomi's date, reveals that he has been exporting various specimens. Sonya is shocked to realise that there is a lot of controversy surrounding James and his company, as lots of koalas have died, and has recently had his environmental
certification removed. James points out that most of them died of natural causes, causing Sonya to furiously ask how he sleeps at night. There is an uncomfortable silence as James replies that it was all good for the economy. Naomi steers the
conversation onto organic foods: Toadie comments how good organic food is for people's insides. James agrees, saying there are far too may fatties in the country and it is costing the taxpayer millions. Sonya nearly chokes on her drink and another
awkward silence ensues.
No 24: Paul explains he wants himself and Brennan to join forces in order to catch who was responsible for shooting Kate. Brennan says they always have wanted the same
thing and asks what has changed. Paul explains his investigations are going nowhere and that, instead of both of them chasing the same leads, they could cover more ground working together. Brennan asks how this would work and Paul says he would provide
the information he has as well as finance the whole thing, and all he would want in return is for Brennan to keep him updated on the progress so far. Brennan can't believe Paul would put aside all the hostility towards him so they could work together.
Paul retorts that he fully intends to make Brennan pay for his role in Kate's death, but his priority at the moment is the person who shot her. Brennan doesn't shake on the deal, explaining he needs time to think things through. Paul urges him not to
take too much as they have wasted enough already.
The Waterhole: Brennan is explaining to Sonya the results of his earlier meeting with Paul. Sonya wonders whether Brennan will do it and Brennan replies that he is tempted but finds
it hard to believe that Paul is on the level. Sonya retorts that Paul is rarely on the level and warns Brennan to be careful as Paul is likely to have an agenda. She rubs Brennan's arm to reassure him that everything is good, a gesture noticed by Toadie who happens to
glance over.
No 32: Bailey offers to chat with Josie outside, although as Jayden is still telling her the same story as before, he tells Bailey to go away. Jayden adds Bailey is
like a mosquito that he can't quite smack down. The two continue to argue: Josie tells them to shut up but Bailey rounds on her telling her not to tell him to shut up as she has been all over Jayden. Josie walks off, saying that she is so dumb, and
Jayden pushes Bailey onto the couch, calling him a loser before walking off.
The Waterhole: Toadie wonders why Sonya is taking so long at the bar, reminding her that James is there for Naomi not Sonya. Sonya replies that she knows but that James
is awful. Toadie agrees, but tells Sonya they can at least help Naomi by rejoining her with the drinks. Naomi brings the topic of conversation onto animals. James runs through a list of animals that he likes, all of which are able to be hunted. Sonya yells
across the table that killing animals is not the same as liking them, something that James had written on his Internet profile. She demands to know why he lied and furiously says he is nothing more than a koala and duck murderer. James tells Naomi he
likes her, but not the company: Sheila, who has walked up to the table, tells him not to insult her friends. James replies that it is none of her business, calling her grandma. Sheila kicks him out, telling him he is not good enough for her daughter.
When James discovers Naomi brought her mother along, he tells her there is something seriously wrong with her and departs. Sonya says good riddance to him as he leaves and Naomi dejectedly heads to the bar.
The Waterhole: A little later, Toadie heads over to Naomi at the bar, explaining that he wanted to double check that she was ok. Naomi replies that she is,
despite all the disastrous dates she has had recently. Toadie apologises for the clash between Sonya and James: Naomi explains that was the last thing she has intended. Toadie tries to make Naomi feel better by telling her that James should have
been thankful that such an amazing person agreed to go out with him in the first place. Toadie wonders if that was an inappropriate comment, although Naomi assures him that he was just a friend trying to make another friend feel better. Toadie adds
that everything will work out fine and the two hug.
No 30: Sonya marches in, still angry at James and how awful he was. She wonders why Toadie keeps giving her looks and Toadie replies that they should have been
there to support Naomi. An annoyed Sonya rounds on Toadie, pointing out that he made her feel guilty enough to go in the first place and then expected her to shut up and not be herself. Toadie replies that he did and Sonya retorts that it was never
going to happen. Toadie says that it left Naomi nearly in tears at the bar but Sonya asks if Naomi is taking dating too seriously as she hadn't even met her date until that evening, so she can't possibly have been as serious as Toadie and herself or
Brennan and Kate. Sonya picks up on Toadie bristling at Brennan's name and asks what the matter is. Toadie asks what the meeting was in the middle of the double date between Sonya and Brennan and wonders if it could have waited. Sonya replies that it
couldn't have and Toadie agrees, saying that her 'pet projects' always come first and everybody else always comes second.
No 32: The house is in a mess with Bailey asleep on the sofa. Callum comes in and spots Bailey. Shocked at the state of the house, he begins tidying,
covering Bailey up with a blanket and removing an empty cup from his hands. Callum smells the cup, realising that there has been alcohol in it.
No 24: Brennan lets Paul into the house, who immediately asks if Brennan has made a decision yet. Brennan replies that he hasn't as he doesn't think he can
trust Paul. Paul replies that Brennan probably can't trust him and Brennan therefore says he won't work with Paul. Paul replies that Brennan can trust one thing: he has a vested interest in the case, an unrelenting drive to see justice - and
he won't rest until Kate's killer is caught. Brennan replies that neither will he - and the two finally shake hands, agreeing to be partners.
The Waterhole: Sheila apologises about Naomi's date, offering her a cocktail on the house. Naomi explains she had high hopes and Sheila responds that she is
proud of Naomi as she took a risk although Naomi retorts that she drove off probably the last desirable single man out there. Sheila replies that she and Sonya also helped drive him away and tells Naomi to stay positive and not doubt herself,
despite the poor recent dates. As Sheila heads off, Naomi receives a text message from Toadie, which says "You will be back on top in no time!" Naomi smiles.
