St James Hospital - Danny's room: Danny tries to tell Maria that his nightmares were predicting this outcome and Danny fears that she is hiding Shane’s death from him. Maria dismisses both claims when Max calls to her. Maria leaves the room and Max under pressure sees Danny for the first time since the accident. Danny pressures to know how Shane is and Max reveals he’s got a ruptured spleen and may never walk, let alone dive again. Danny is devastated and tells Max they both wish it were he instead of Shane with all those injuries. Max cannot hide the fact that he agrees.

St James Hospital - Waiting room: Daphne arrives and sees Max and Maria there. Maria explains that the doctor is with Shane going through the news about the damage to his spine.

St James Hospital - Shane's room: Shane is going through tests to see if he can move his hands and feet but he tells the doctors he can’t. Dr Rowlands assures Shane he should be able to move as it is only bruising he has but Shane has convinced himself it is more serious. Daphne arrives and after learning Shane he’ll not be able to dive again she shrugs it off as not being the end of Shane’s world.

St James Hospital - Waiting room: Dr Lockyer advises Max that although he will recover with physiotherapy, Shane will not be able to dive again or risk becoming permanently paralysed. Shane will have to rethink his life.

St James Hospital - Shane's room: Daphne tries to make Shane see there is other things in life he can focus on now such as going away to discover Australia on a long holiday and she quips about getting married one day. Shane makes it clear he is not interested in marriage. Laurie arrives and Daphne decides to leave. Laurie asks if Daphne is his girlfriend and Shane replies ‘not any more.’

No 26 - Lounge: Helen is surprised to see Scott in his school uniform and he tells her he’s realised it doesn’t matter what the kids will say about him and Kim. Scott wants to see Danny to apologise. Helen thinks he should.

St James Hospital - Danny's room: Laurie tells Danny that Shane wants to see him but Danny is adamant he isn’t ready yet. Scott arrives and the boys make amends over their falling out. No 28 - Lounge: Daphne is glumly reminded of severity of Shane’s injuries when the robbery, Gordon Miller being charged and Shane’s condition are spoken of. She turns off the tv. Des arrives home late after covering for most of his staff having to make positive ID’s on Gordon. No 26 - Kitchen: Helen remarks that Jim is talking to Julie in her room, as she is so upset at having to ID Gordon Miller at the police station. Scott tells her he visited Danny and is worried about Danny blaming himself for the accident and might do something stupid, like running away but Helen’s attention is elsewhere as Jim enters. He tells them that Julie is feeling on edge about facing any customers at the bank again and Helen remarks there was a day where you never needed to even lock your front door. Jim decides he needs to visit the Ramsay’s to see if all is okay.

No 24 - Lounge: Max is looking at Shane’s picture of him winning a diving competition when Jim arrives. Max explains he is so angry that he could kill Gordon Miller for ruining his career. Max goes on to reveal he felt bad that he did wish it were Danny who was the one who was badly injured.

No 24 - Lounge: Max and Jim share a beer as Jim tries to get to the real reason why Max is so hard on Danny. Jim explains that he thinks Danny is misunderstood, as many times he would use Jim to discuss the problems he had at home. Max is not pleased at this news and having not heard from Jim before about it. Max tells Jim he knows nothing and hurriedly leaves for the hospital.

No 28 - Kitchen: Jim arrives as Des prepares to go to work to let him know that Julie cannot face going to work after getting ready and then getting upset at the thought of going. Des sympathises and assures Jim he’ll go over to see her and tell her to take the day off. Daphne arrives and Jim sets off to go to work. Daphne tells Des she’ll see him later.
