• Peter Kirk tells Julie he is finishing with her
• Anna tells Jim she is leaving and not coming back

No 26 - Kitchen/lounge: Julie tries to make light of her family’s recent troubles by trying to get everyone to go on a family picnic on Sunday – even breaking the family tradition of a Sunday roast. No one is interested. Scott leaves to see Danny with Lucy tagging along. Julie comments on the fact that Jim is returning home from a week away on his own and that she’s sure he’ll see Anna leaving was for the best. Paul answers the front door to find Carol Brown is selling raffle tickets. Carol enquires to Helen about Jim and Helen avoids the question. Carol meanwhile makes reference to Julie not liking Anna and Helen escorts Carol out. Julie calls her a stupid gossip and Paul calls his sister stupid for putting their father in the position he is and making him walk away for a week.

No 24 - Kitchen: Max returns from diving training with Danny shouting at his son. Maria is tense over Anna’s departure and blames Max for his part in hurting Jim so badly.

No 26 - Kitchen: Julie being self-righteous about Anna leaving to the point where Helen cannot bare to listen to anymore of it and tells her what she believes is all wrong. Julie refuses to accept that and feeling she was being asked to accept Anna into the house. Both women are shocked when Jim having arrived home walks into the kitchen. He tells Julie he only asked her to apologise to Anna. Julie admits she hasn’t done so and Jim still wants her to do so by telephone. Julie refuses. Jim tells her to go and pack her bags.

No 26 - Lounge: Julie is ready to leave but before Paul can drop her off at Marilyn’s, Jim speaks to the family. Jim reminds them Julie has not apologised and he is carrying his threat through to try and make her realise how wrong she was. Julie comments that she is not going to be allowed back but Jim tells her it’s her choice. Julie leaves.

No 28 - Doorway: Carol arrives to sell some school fete raffle tickets to Daphne. Daphne invites her in and she reluctantly does so. Carol comments on Jim’s break up and his return. Kevin Barry arrives and Carol seems flustered to see him. While Daphne goes to get some money, Kevin asks how Carol is coping – Carol takes it he is talking about her drinking and makes a hasty exit once Daphne has paid. Daphne tells Kevin, Carol appears so lonely and mentions about Kim’s letter to Scott. Kevin explains Kim is a survivor. Kevin asks after Jim’s welfare.

No 26 - Lounge: Lucy is upset at Julie leaving and still tells her father the lie that Anna stole Helen’s ring. Jim is disappointed by Lucy’s reaction.

No 24 - Kitchen: Max refuses to go over to see Jim despite Maria’s pleas. Maria goes to answer the phone.

No 26 - Lounge: Paul returns home after dropping Julie off at Marilyn’s. He tells Helen Julie seemed okay but he can’t understand why Helen let Julie leave. Helen agrees with Jim’s actions and reveals Jim’s break away was a relaxing drive along the coast. Jim comes in to the room and explains to them he realised while he was away that he was trying to please everyone and that he should only please himself. Helen realises what he is saying and Jim admits he is going up to Queensland to see Anna tomorrow.

No 24 - Kitchen: Maria finishes her phone call. She explains to Max that it was Anna and she got married an hour ago.

No 28 - Lounge/doorway: Paul answers the door to Carol who wants to see Daphne. Carol mentions to him about the news of Anna’s marriage a week ago. Daphne arrives to hear she has won the school fete raffle prize of a year’s subscription to Family Circle magazine. Carol makes some comments about it not being Daphne’s style and Daphne retorts about the state of Carol’s marriage as no example. Carol storms out. Daphne asks after Julie and Paul mentions he took his sister out for dinner last night. Paul mentions she is very homesick and her arrangement with Marilyn is becoming strained.

Park: Julie and Marilyn are eating lunch together and they apologise for their earlier argument at home. Marilyn asks her to find somewhere else to live so not to ruin their friendship and if she can move out by tomorrow. Marilyn urges Julie to reconsider about getting herself back home.

The Gold Coast - Hotel room/No 26 - Lounge: Anna sits nervously on her hotel bed as she prepares to ring Jim at home. Helen answers the phone and urges Scott to go and get Jim from the garden. Anna explains to him that Julie has rung and apologised to her. They make polite conversation before ending the call. Jim explains Julie has apologised and Helen asks what he is going to do about Julie. He tells her it is all too late. Helen asks him for the sake of the family to bring Julie home.

No 26 - Kitchen: Later, Jim tells all the family he wants them to go across and pick up Julie to bring her home. Helen tearfully, however, wants time to be alone to get their family meal ready for their return.
