• Danny fears he could be ‘locked up’ for the mugging
• Helen warns Jim if he continues to wallow in self-pity over Anna, then he could find all his children are strangers to him

No 26 - Scott and Paul's bedroom: Paul is keen to help out Father. Barry but is surprised when he is asked to help Carol Brown who the priest feels is about to see her family disintegrate if she continues to drink. Paul is unsure with her accusing Scott of the mugging but agrees when Kevin asks him to put aside any judgements he has. Scott comes into the room and Kevin decides to go. Scott challenges his brother about agreeing to help Carol and Paul is annoyed at Scott for listening to his private conversation. Paul tries make Scott see that he is doing something he believes in. Paul storms out, slamming the door behind him. Danny calls to Scott from the bedroom window and climbs in. Scott is unhappy at Danny taking such a risk to see him but Danny wants to let him know that in court he’ll testify Scott wasn’t anywhere near Carol Brown. Scott doubts it’ll help then when both of their father’s do not believe them.

No 26 - Kitchen: Helen is ironing in the laundry as Jim makes a coffee for both of them. He tells her he knows she was right in what she said. Jim admits he realises he cannot continue to hurt the family as he has even though he knows it’ll be some time before he gets over Anna. Jim asks Helen to bring him up to speed over his children.

No 24 - Danny's bedroom: Danny sneaks back through the window to find Shane still there covering for him but is shocked to see Max too, who has discovered Danny had slipped out. Max demands to know where he was and Shane feeling it isn’t a problem tells him Danny was with Scott. Maria comes into the room after hearing Max shouting. Danny yells back that he had to sneak out to see Scott as they’ve only got each other after Max & Jim have abandoned them. Maria manages to stop Max from hitting Danny. Danny tells then he wishes he does get ‘locked up’ to get away from home.

No 26 - Kitchen: Next morning, Jim greets Lucy as she packs her schoolbag and encourages her to talk about why she doesn’t want to go to the fancy dress party. He talks about dreading going to a fancy dress party himself when he was younger, fearing he would look stupid. But when he got there he had a great time and loaded a swag bag to make it heavy in case anyone teased him. Lucy reveals Jeanette Riley is teasing her at school that she too will look stupid if she goes. Jim suggests Lucy go to prove her wrong and they start talking costumes as Father. Barry arrives to collect Paul. After Paul leaves and Jim goes to speak to Scott, Helen suggests a ballerina or fairy princess costume but Lucy decides she’d like to go as a tramp, like Jim did.

No 26 - Scott and Paul's bedroom: Jim apologises to Scott for not saying how much he believes he is innocent but Scott is eager for Jim to talk to Max too, to convince him of Danny’s innocence. Jim however isn’t so keen to get involved in the Ramsay family troubles.

No 30 - Hallway: Carol opens the front door to find Kevin with Paul. She isn’t happy at seeing Paul but he assures her he is only there to help her. Carol agrees for them to come in.

No 30 - Kitchen: Carol apologises and makes excuses for the untidy state of the kitchen. She tells Kevin that her husband is home but asleep but when questioned, breaks down and admits he never came home last night. Kevin asks if she wants her husband to come home and Carol tells them she does. Kevin makes it clear her drinking is stopping that from happening and she has to admit she is an alcoholic before he or Paul can help her. Carol pours doubt as to Paul’s motives and he admits although he disbelieves her claims about Scott & Danny, he does want to help her. Carol accepts Paul’s wish to help but refuses to acknowledge she is an alcoholic. Kevin tells her he cannot help her but offers to speak to her husband. Carol rejects the offer and Kevin decides to leave. As Paul goes to leave too, he reminds her that she can call him anytime. Carol opens a kitchen cupboard and grabs a near empty bottle of Vodka. She starts to pour it down the sink but then reaches for a glass and pours herself a drink. Gulping it down, it causes her to cough and she stops drinking from the glass and instead sobs, clutching it to her chest.

No 26 - Lounge: Lucy is proudly showing off her tramp costume to Jim & Helen. Jim’s praise convinces her to go to the party but when she puts her swag bag onto the coffee table it makes a loud bang. Helen investigates what is inside and finds a copy of a dictionary. Lucy explains she had it in her bag in case anyone teased her and she could bash him or her, as Jim did. Jim tells her she really shouldn’t take him so literally.

No 26 - Kitchen: Paul & Kevin return and Kevin notices how quiet Paul is. Paul admits it has shook him up but explains he thinks he shouldn’t get involved in Carol’s problem’s as he really dislikes the woman. Kevin is furious at Paul for showing such little compassion for another human being and suggests Paul think about whether he really wants to work with him.

No 24 - Driveway: Jim tries to get Max to see reason that Danny is innocent but is shocked and angered to learn how Scott has been seeing Danny despite being told not to. Max remarks that they have both been made fools of and suggests the boys have been conspiring with each other to make up more lies.

No 24 - Back garden: Scott & Danny manage to talk to each other over the fence. Danny cannot believe Scott’s claims that Jim is there for both of them and feels both Jim & Max is still against them. Scott tells him he is wrong and Danny tells him he hopes he is right.

No 24 - Kitchen: Maria watches as Danny returns from the garden, having seen him and Scott talking. When he comes into the house she reminds him how he is not allowed to see Scott outside of school. Maria agrees not to tell Max, as she is still worried about Max nearly hitting him the previous night. Danny tells her he isn’t scared of getting a beating and Maria remarks that Max has never hit him. She tries to make Danny see that Max cares for him but he tells her all Max cares for is about not damaging the Ramsay name. Danny is sure if him being ‘locked away’ meant no repercussions for Max, and then his father wouldn’t save him.

No 26 - Lounge: Paul is watching footy, on the TV, when the phone rings. Scott answers.

No 30 - Kitchen: Carol asks to speak to Paul.

No 26 - Lounge: Scott doesn’t recognise the voice as it asks to speak to Paul and he calls over to his brother. Paul gets up to take the call.

No 30 - Kitchen: Carol explains she needs someone to talk to and would like it to be him.

No 26 - Lounge: Paul feels torn.

No 24 - Danny's bedroom: Danny is laying on his bed, staring at the trophy he won for the diving competition. He decides to act and after throwing the trophy in the bin, he starts to pack his rucksack but leaves behind his sleeping bag and packing Shane’s. Danny opens his bedroom door slowly so not to be seen and after checking no one is around leaves.

No 26 - Lounge: Lucy arrives home after her party and having both won second prize and impressing Jeanette Riley with her costume. Helen hears Jim’s raised voice in the kitchen and ushers Lucy to her room.

No 26 - Kitchen: Jim confronts Scott over seeing Danny but Scott felt it was the only way as they felt no one trusted them then. Jim tells his son to forget what he said about believing in him before.

No 30 - Kitchen: Carol leads Paul into the room, explaining that she needed to talk to someone as she has found her husband has taken her children that afternoon while she was lay on the bed, unconscious after drinking. Carol tells Paul she wants her husband & children back and he tells her she has to admit her addiction. This time Carol admits she is an alcoholic and wants Paul to help her. He is happy to take her to get help but is stunned when she asks to go to the police station first. Carol admits her purse has been returned to her. It was never stolen, just left behind at a bar she went to and she wants to tell the police she may be wrong about Danny too. Paul thanks her for her honesty.

No 26 - Lucy's bedroom: As Helen tucks Lucy into bed she explains that Jim shouting at Scott is about them all having a difficult time at the present. Helen focuses her on how well the day went for her at the party and Lucy settles down for her first untroubled night’s sleep she has had in a while.

No 26 - Scott and Paul's bedroom: Scott is reading when Danny arrives by climbing through the window and wanting to get the $2 Scott borrowed from him. Danny explains he has decided to run away but doesn’t know where he is going to go. Scott tells him he was right, their parents are against them and he wants to go with him.
