Recap
• Maria breaks down as she waits for news of Danny
• Scott blames himself for Danny being in hospital
• Max arranges to meet Pete for a drug deal
• Scott and Danny agree to talk to each other about their problems in future
• Maria tells Shane that the hall wants $500 for the damage caused at the party

No 24 - Lounge: Shane thinks that $500 is a bit steep and wonders how they're going to pay it. He thinks about telling Max, but Maria doesn't want him involved - she'll take responsibility for this, and will just have to hope that they'll give her some time to pay the bill. She goes to get ready, as Danny walks in the back door. Shane tells him what's happened, and Danny wonders if some of the guys from the party will help to pay it, but realises it's unlikely. He apologises to Maria as she leaves, and then wonders how Max will take the news. Shane explains that he's not going to find out, as Maria doesn't want him to know, and Danny is relieved, thinking his father would have killed him.

Bedsits - Hallway/No 26: Max is on the phone to Scott, asking him for some ideas for something to get Danny, as he's been through a lot lately. Scott recommends some tapes.

No 24 - Kitchen/Dining Table: Shane comes in to find Danny moping about all of the trouble he's caused. Shane jokes about his brother being cursed, but then reminds him that everyone makes mistakes, and the family has survived worse than this. Danny isn't quite comforted by his words.

Hall - Office: Mr Freeman shows Maria in, and, having seen the damage, she agrees that $500 is a reasonable amount to ask. She requests that she pay back the money in instalments, but Mr Freeman explains that they will need the whole sum within one week, or they will begin legal proceedings.

No 24 - Lounge: Max walks in, surprising Danny who was listening to music with his headphones on. Danny's happy to see his dad - and explains that Maria and Shane are both out - and Max says that he needed to come by as he has a plumbing job later. He then gives Danny some tapes as a birthday gift, and Danny is delighted with them. Des then walks in, looking for Shane, as he's got a problem with some leaking pipes in the bathroom. Danny and Des are both surprised when Max agrees to help, and says he'll be over shortly. Des leaves, and Danny reminds his father that 'Daphne the stripper' still lives with Des. Max tells his son that he's not quite the ogre everyone makes him out to be - and besides, he can't afford to turn down work at the moment. Danny looks guilty after Max leaves.

No 28 - Lounge: Daphne is surprised to hear that Max is on his way over, and there's a knock on the door. Des opens it to find a woman who introduces herself as Yvette, and she already seems to know who Des and Daphne are. They're slightly confused, until Harry walks in - he explains that Cleo liked it so much on the Gold Coast that she decided to stay, and she gave her return ticket to his new friend, Yvette. Yvette says that her boyfriend is Tiger Thomas, the boxer. Des and Daphne realise that Harry and Yvette aren't 'together' and she won't be staying. She thanks Harry for his help, and he again borrows money from Des to pay for the taxi. Yvette leaves, making sure that Harry has her number and as she goes, Max arrives. Des shows him through to the bathroom. Daphne, meanwhile, warns her grandfather to slow down, or he'll have a heart attack. As Harry goes to his room, Des returns, and says that they'll have to do something about Harry - he's costing him a fortune. Daphne says that they can't just kick out an old man, and she'll pay Des back for everything once she's earning again.

No 24 - Kitchen: Scott suggests that Jim could lend Maria the money, but Danny thinks that she'd be too proud to accept it. Danny tells Scott about Max being in a good mood, which was strange. Scott leaves, as Terry arrives, and Danny tells her that she has to load up the van. Terry wonders what sort of mood Max is in, as she's a bit late, but she's surprised to hear that he's in a very good mood today.

No 28 - Kitchen: Max has quickly finished the job, and Des takes him to one side to pay him - subtly reminding Daphne to talk to Harry about money as he does. Daphne then tries to talk to Harry about all the money he's been taking from Des, but Harry quickly turns the conversation around, saying that, at his age, he's so grateful to them both for their generosity in taking him in and helping him - it's really restored his faith in human nature. Before Daphne can say anything else, Harry quickly takes Squawker outside for some fresh air.

Ramsay Street - No 24 Garage: Terry is loading the van, when Shane walks up and introduces himself. He tells her that he tried working for Max once - he only lasted two days - and he's impressed that she can do it. They talk about his accident, and that he can no longer dive, and they flirt a little as he offers to help load the van. Max then turns up, a little grumpier, and asks Terry if she can manage the job on her own today. She agrees, and goes to get some more equipment, with Shane going after her.

. . .

No 24: Danny is pacing around the house, when Max walks in, in a good mood again. Danny suddenly asks if he can borrow $500, explaining about the damage to the hall. Max is annoyed that nobody told him, but Danny explains that they were trying to keep it to themselves, so as not to bother him. Max gets annoyed, saying that he came here and gave Danny expensive presents, and he didn't say a word. Shane and Terry walk in and hear them, and Shane is angry with his brother for opening his big mouth again. Max storms out, telling Terry to give him a lift home. Danny turns to Shane and says that he didn't think Max would mind.

No 28 - Lounge: Daphne is hoovering, and Des comes in, trying to find out what Harry said when she spoke to him. They shout at each other for a while, until Des decides to turn the hoover off. Daphne explains that she tried to talk to Harry, but he started talking about how much he appreciates their hospitality, and she couldn't do it. Des realises that Harry put on the vulnerable old man act. Daphne reminds him that he'll be old one day too, and that he's a really nice person, who won't let Harry get him down for long.

Bedsit: Max answers the door to Maria, who says that she was passing and thought she'd say hello. Max suddenly blurts out that he knows about the $500 - Danny told him - but Maria explains that she tried to keep it quiet as she didn't want Max to take it out on Danny - Max was so caring at the hospital, and she didn't want to spoil that. Max gets annoyed and says that they never had this sort of trouble with Shane - Maria replies that maybe that was because Max showed some interest in him. Max, however, believes it was because he actually was Shane's father. She says that she just came over to thank him for the way he was with Danny at the hospital last night.

No 26 - Scott and Paul's Bedroom: Danny can't believe that Max turned on him so quickly, and he thinks that Max only gave him those tapes because he felt guilty about being such a rotten father. Scott thinks that he should just have been honest about the $500 from the start, but Danny thinks that it wouldn't have made any difference - and now Max has a new excuse to hate him. He already knew that his parents split up because of him, and now he's gone and ruined things all over again.

. . .

Ramsay Street - No 24 Driveway: Shane is putting some suitcases into the van, believing that this is the only solution. Terry thinks that Max is going to kill her when he finds out that she helped with all of this. Shane takes a look back up at the house, and gets in the van.

Ramsay Street - No 24 Front door: Max and Maria are walking up to the house, and she wants them all to just talk things through as a family, and doesn't want an angry Max going in there and taking it out on Danny again. Max says that he just wants to sit down and find out how Danny proposes to pay the bill for the hall.

No 24 - Lounge: Max and Maria walk in, and she goes to look for Danny. Max then notices that all of Shane's trophies are missing, and is about to call the police when Shane walks in and stops him. He says that they weren't stolen - he sold them. He gives Maria an envelope containing $500 for the hall, plus $50 extra. Max angrily tries to take it, saying that they earned those trophies, but Shane says that they were his, and he couldn't stand looking at the trophies and photos all the time, as he needs to put that part of his life behind him. Maria comforts him, and Max storms off again, saying that he doesn't understand Shane at all.

No 24 - Back Garden: Max is about to leave when Danny comes through the gate. Max says that Shane would never have done this if it weren't for Danny, who is confused and doesn't understand. Max sends Danny inside to speak to his brother, saying that he's thrown away the only thing that the family could be proud of. He notices the photos in the bin, and picks up one of him and Shane.
