Liljana and Luka came home from hospital at the beginning of the week and it seemed as though things would finally be able to go back to normal. Svetlanka’s scheming appeared to have kept Serena’s mouth shut, but she had another ace up her sleeve. She informed Luka that she had a lead on his real parents, in Canberra, and before long, he was planning to leave town. However, just as he was set to walk out the door, Serena could take no more and revealed the truth to the entire family. Luka and Liljana attempted to get to know each other, but it was obvious that he was more enthusiastic about it, as she struggled to cope with finding out that she had a son. The family was called together and it was decided that Luka would stay in Erinsborough, whilst Svetlanka would be banished to Perth. Meanwhile, Luka and Serena decided that they had no option but to put the past behind them and attempt to look on each other as brother and sister. Although the first part of this storyline has come to an end, there is still plenty of mileage to be had from it. Apart from some great performances and acting, this storyline has really managed to bring the Bishops to the front of the action on the street and given each member of the family a chance to shine.

Connor found himself at the mercy of Carmella and her attempts to mess with his head. And it seemed that he wasn’t the only person that she was out to get revenge on. When Sindi scored a new job as a columnist on All Her magazine, she was shocked to find that Carmella was helping her mother to look after the business and was acting editor. The first task Sindi was given was to write about a shoe. Natch. Meanwhile, Boyd was finally saved from Travis’ garden, but it seemed that his relationship with Sky was beyond repair. However, things were advancing between Sky and Lana, as Sky struggled to cope with her jealousy when Lana went out with Buffy. By the end of the week, it looked like Lana’s feelings for Sky were also returning, but she was confused as to whether Sky felt the same way.

Lyn was finalising her plans to leave for Bendigo, but an incident in the Coffee Shop made Susan suspicious. When Izzy spotted Lyn putting some chocolates into Oscar’s pushchair, she accused her of theft and Libby tried to defend her. But when word got back to Susan, she visited her friend to try to get to the root of the problem. Lyn finally broke down and admitted how desperately unhappy she was and how much she wanted to stay in Erinsborough. Susan offered support as Lyn phoned Joe to break the news to him. After many months of weak explanations for the absence of Joe, it’s good to finally have some closure on the situation. It was never going to be a perfect storyline, with half of the couple in question hundred of kilometres away, but the performances from Janet Andrewartha and Jackie Woodburne have been great. It was good to have Lyn’s shoplifting acknowledged again, and hopefully this will now allow the character a little more freedom in her storylines.

Although Izzy refused to go on a cruise with Karl, due to her phobia of water, he managed to convince her to try something slightly more intimate. She put her trust in him and the couple set out in a small rowing boat. After a while, she managed to calm down enough to enjoy it, and it seemed like she was making progress. Karl then attempted to make the situation perfect by presenting her with an engagement ring. In her excitement, she managed to tip the boat and fall out into the water. Karl dived in and managed to save her, dragging her to the shore and reviving her. In hospital, it was revealed that she and the baby were going to be fine, but still, this is a soap opera, and it’s never quite that simple.
Earlier in the week, Karl had taken on the responsibility of designing a website for Lou to sell his spare car parts. However, he quickly showed his lack of knowledge when he described the spam in Lou’s inbox as ham. Meanwhile, by the end of the week, Sindi and Toadie were finally reunited, as he tentatively managed to put her kiss with Stu behind him…
