Guest Character Profiles > Christian Doran Adrian Woolcock

Christian Doran 2009, 2010, 2011
Occupation: Paramedic

After deciding to train to become a paramedic, Ringo Brown was introduced, by his guardian Dr Karl Kennedy, to Christian Doran. Christian gave Ringo a tour of the ambulance and listened as he explained that he wanted to help people, and had decided to follow a paramedic career after his friend Bridget Parker's recent death. Christian told him that Karl believed that he had what it took to make it in the medical profession, before heading off on a shout with his partner. As he walked home, Ringo came upon an accident and helped as a man in the crowd passed out, which only confirmed his belief that this was what he wanted to do.

Some weeks later, Christian was called out to a planned housing development at Waratah Heights, where journalists Elle Robinson and Josh Burns had been investigating a story. Josh had fallen and badly injured himself but by the time Elle could call for help and the ambulance arrived, it was too late, and he died at the scene.

The following year, Christian attended an accident at Lucas Fitzgerald's garage, involving some spilt battery acid. Both Lucas and mechanic Steph had to be taken to hospital, as she was forced to admit that she was pregnant. The following week, Ringo was continuing with his paramedic training with Christian, but struggled to pay attention during a shout, failing to get a leg splint when ordered. Christian told Ringo that he had to be alert at all times on this job, but was later impressed to hear that Ringo had helped a young woman, Naomi Lord, who'd collapsed at Lassiter's, and had saved her life by diagnosing anaphylaxis and administering treatment. Though the incident gave Ringo more confidence, the meeting with Naomi brought him more problems than he could have imagined, as she became obsessed with him and he failed to spot her mental issues, and one day at the hospital, he bumped into Christian, who said that he'd just brought in a girl who'd been in a hit-and-run - a girl who turned out to be Naomi. Feeling terrible about the whole thing, Ringo made the decision that he wasn't cut out to be a paramedic. Ringo's girlfriend Donna decided to try and arrange for Christian to 'accidentally' bump into him at the bar and have a chat, but the plan failed and it seemed that Ringo's mind was made up.

In 2011, Christian was one of the paramedics in attendance when a fire broke out at 26 Ramsay Street, injuring several people, including father and daughter Michael and Natasha Williams. Later that year, Christian had to treat Michael again when he collapsed due to a perforated stomach ulcer.
