The team doctor for the Eastside Dingoes football team, Michael Shirley interviewed Erinsborough G.P. Karl Kennedy as a possible replacement when he retired. Although the interview went well at first, Michael then mentioned to Karl that he might sometimes have to push boundaries and break rules to make sure that a player got back on the field as quickly as possible. Karl insisted that he wouldn’t do anything illegal, or risk a player’s health, but he ended up getting the job anyway. A few months later, with player Paul McClain, Karl exposed the rampant steroid abuse problem within the team.
