As Lauren walks past cleaning tables, Paul states to her that she is welcome to stay on as a tenant when he buys Number 32 in the auction the next day. Georgia admits she has and that the break-up is a shame. Mason asks if Kate explained why they split, and wonders if he showed Kate he had learnt from the issue whether they stood a chance of a reunion. Georgia tells Mason not to get his hopes up as Kate made it very clear their relationship was over. When Mason presses the issue, Georgia can only reply that Mason should try talking to her again.

Lassiter's Complex: Vanessa arrives at her meeting with Alec and asks him to say what he has to before she leaves. Alec suggests dinner, but Vanessa retorts that she doesn't want anyone to get the wrong idea. Alec offers his hotel room, in which they can talk, if privacy is what Vanessa wants. Lucas and Chris are discussing Lucas' wedding and Chris asks if Hudson can be his plus one. As they turn the corner, they spot Vanessa and Alec together heading into the hotel. Lucas tells Chris he has never seen Alec before and races off to see what is going on.

Lassiter's Hotel - Reception: As Mason gets out of the lift, he greets both Vanessa and Alec, who are getting in. Lucas marches into the hotel and asks Mason if he has seen Vanessa with a man. Mason admits he has, but is very reluctant to give out the room number that Vanessa and Alec are going to. Lucas sarcastically replies that Paul has trained Mason well and in response, Mason has a look at the hotel register, telling Lucas that Mr Pocoli is staying in room 613. Lucas realises who the man is, thanking Mason for his troubles.

Vanessa angrily asks Lucas what she is being accused of; Lucas retorts that he knows who the man is. Lucas points at Vanessa and tells Alec that she is his fiancée; Alec tells Lucas that Vanessa is his wife still. Lucas wonders why Vanessa didn't say that she and Alec were still married; Vanessa replies that she only just found out. Lucas responds by asking whether Vanessa went running back to Alec because he had stuffed up. Vanessa doesn't get a chance to reply as Lucas, increasingly irate, threatens Alec, but Vanessa asks Lucas to go as she has lots to discuss with Alec. Reluctantly, Lucas departs the room.

Eclipse Apartments - Paul's Penthouse: Mason brings Paul a coffee; Paul asks whether any engagement plans have been made. Mason asks Paul whether he has spoken to Kate and Paul admits he has. Mason replies he didn't say anything because he didn't want it to affect his prospects at the hotel. Paul states that the only thing likely to do that is by not playing ball regarding Marty. Mason asks Paul if he knows when Kate is returning, but Paul replies that she is staying in Sydney as Sophie is ill. Mason argues that this is an excuse, and asks if Mark Brennan has been mentioned. Paul urges Mason to forget it and move on.

Lassiter's Hotel - Room 613: Alec and Vanessa are sitting on the bed talking about Lucas' gambling. Alec replies he cannot blame a man for being protective of his pregnant fiancée and that when he was with Vanessa, he was too young to appreciate Vanessa's caring, motherly qualities. Vanessa tells Alec that he has changed, Alec replies he is no longer obsessed with making money. Vanessa explains she needs to get home, and Alec encourages her to consider his proposal carefully.

Charlie's: Toadie and Lucas arrive at Charlie's: Toadie asks Lucas what he is going to do about Vanessa and Alec. Lucas says he doesn't know, and Toadie offers to talk to Vanessa. Lucas politely refuses as Vanessa has been pulling away slightly. Lucas tells Toadie that Vanessa has seen the real him, because of the relapse and that Alec can probably offer her more anyway. At that moment, Alec comes into Charlie's and is served by Sheila. Lucas, seeing this, heads over and asks whether Vanessa called him. Alec replies she didn't; Lucas adds that Vanessa deserves the best. Alec questions Lucas whether he is really the man that could be that for Vanessa.

Harold's Store: Kyle and Chris are discussing what to do with Lucas. Kyle says they will be there for Lucas. Worriedly, Chris wonders whether Lucas will just bottle up his feeling until he explodes. Noticing Mason at a table, they head over to commiserate with him about the break-up with Kate. Mason asks them if they have heard Mark Brennan mentioned recently, but Kyle replies he hasn't been. Mason explains that he thinks that Mark is the reason Kate is staying in Sydney, but Kyle replies that Kate is over Mark and has been for a long time. Kyle urges Mason not to give up on Kate. Walking away, Chris asks why Kyle is giving Mason false hope and suggests it is because he doesn't want Kate to be single, so that he doesn't have to feel guilty about the night he spent with Kate. Kyle retorts that Chris is way off the mark.

Lucas and Vanessa's Apartment: The next day, Vanessa is seeing to Patrick when Toadie knocks on the door. Vanessa lets him in, and Toadie explains that he has had a chat with Lucas. Vanessa sarcastically asks if Toadie is there to fight Lucas' battles for him. Vanessa goes on to ask how she can forgive Lucas for gambling with their future. Toadie explains that living with an addict is tough, but that he loves Sonya and its part of his life with her. He asks Vanessa how far she would go for Lucas; if she can't forgive him, then what she does feel isn't enough. He asks whether she loves Lucas enough to stand by him. He urges her to think seriously about it as it will affect the rest of her life. Toadie gives Vanessa a hug before leaving. Once he has gone, Vanessa reaches for her phone and calls Alec, telling him to get it done as soon as possible.

No 32: Lauren and Lou are in the kitchen when Lucas comes in. Lauren asks if he is ok, as he looks dishevelled. Lucas explains that he slept in the garage the previous night. Lucas' phone begins ringing with a call from Vanessa, but he rejects the call commenting that there are not many people out the front for the auction. Paul strolls in and tells Lucas that the agent has said Paul is the only serious bidder. Paul asks Lucas where he is moving to: Lou tells Paul to offer a fair price, but Paul replies jovially that he will offer what the market dictates.

Ramsay Street: Outside, a crowd is gathered for the auction. Paul begins bidding against a woman, Betty, though she drops out at 640,000 dollars. The auctioneer goes over to consult Lucas about the offer: exhausted, Lucas tells him to sell it. Returning to the auction, the house is almost sold when Vanessa speeds up in her car yelling out of the window to stop the auction.
