Channel Seven: 19/03/85, BBC One: 28/10/86, UK Gold: 03/11/92

No 28 - Lounge: Mr. Kingham is clearly embarrassed to see Daphne and tries to make small talk as he hurriedly explains to how Daphne used to work for him. Daphne retorts that was before the sexual harassment act. Mrs. Kingham seems to register what their connection was really about. Lorraine however is still after answers as to why Daphne is in her house. Learning from Des she was the stripper from the bucks’ night doesn’t appease her. Lorraine’s father makes it clear to Des that he’s glad the marriage is off, before he and Lorraine leave. Mrs. Kingham however stays back. She apologises to Daphne for her husband’s inappropriate behaviour towards her and tells Des she thinks Lorraine doesn’t realise how lucky she was.

. . .

No 26 - Lounge/kitchen: Julie and Helen watch eagerly the coming and goings at No 28 and after seeing the Kinghams leaving Julie is intent on going over to support Des. Paul wants his interfering sister to stay well away and Helen bluntly asks if it is because she wants Des back – Julie acts shocked at this suggestion, inferring she just feels partly responsible for the break-up. Helen replies that maybe she should.

No 24 - Lounge: Des is trying to come to terms with what has happened to him as Daphne prepares to leave. Seeing how devastated he is she decides not to leave him on his own and offers to make him a coffee before sending him for a shower. Paul comes in and takes a moment to recognise Daphne, before being sent in Des’s direction.

. . .

No 28 - Des' bedroom: Paul tells des how sorry he is about the break up and he’s happy to let guests know the wedding off including his mother. Des jokingly warns Paul it’ll be the last he’ll ever do if he does. Daphne brings in the coffee for Des but he’s headed off for the shower. Paul begins to phone guests. He gets through to a friend Gary who clearly has a bad hangover from the bucks’ night and can’t be any help to Paul at all. Des walks back into the room looking dejected and announces someone has turned off the hot water. Paul & Daphne can’t help but smiling.

No 28 - Des' bedroom: Des has showered and is just sitting on his bed pondering. Paul reassures his friend that Lorraine only wanted to marry him to get back at her father. Des is embarrassed to think what his friends will all think but Paul explains no one thought Lorraine was good enough for him anyway. Des suddenly remembers he still has the honeymoon all booked and Paul offers to call the travel agent to cancel it.

. . .

No 26 - Kitchen: Maria visits and learns from Helen and Jim about the cancelled wedding. She sympathises and also remarks that the Ramsays thought at one stage Julie and Des would marry. Helen remarks that they were just friends.

No 28 - Back garden: Des is trying to come to terms with that he’ll end up losing 800 dollars if he were to cancel the honeymoon – Paul suggests Des could go by himself and treat it as a holiday but Des doesn’t seem keen. Shane arrives to offer his sympathies to Des but on learning from Paul and Des that Daphne is in the house, he leaves the guys to go and see her.

. . .

No 28 - Lounge: Daphne is cleaning up the lounge from the party as Shane lets himself in from the backyard. He is keen to know why see didn’t come as promised to watch him dive earlier. Daphne seems surprised he isn’t joking as she thought it was a chat up line. Shane explains he could be good enough to be in the next Olympics.

No 26 - Kitchen/lounge: Jim continues to pursue why Scott was out so late the previous evening and takes him aside for a private chat. After reassuring his son he can confide in him Scott admits he is keen on a girl from school.

. . .

No 24 - Lounge/kitchen: Danny is vacuuming the lounge carpet when Julie arrives to pick up some jam jars Maria has been saving for her and Helen to make jam. Danny pretends he’s always helping around the house but Maria makes it clear that he’s only clearing up sugar he spilt. Julie takes the chance to make comments about how Des and Lorraine were right not to marry – Danny seizes the chance to remark about her still liking Des. Julie brushes the comment aside with a philosophical view about love and marriage before leaving. Danny flippantly remarks he doesn’t know why people would to be in a bad marriage, referring back to Shane telling him about a time where Maria and Max split up. Maria tells Danny Shane is mistaken. She only went on holiday on her own – Danny wants to discuss it further but Maria clearly does not.

No 28 - Lounge/kitchen: Shane is still trying to get Daphne to agree to watch him diving as they finish off tidying the lounge. Daphne briefly changes the subject saying how she’d love to live in a house like Des’s and discusses with Shane how she knows Lorraine’s father. How it led to her leaving her job, and it leading to her stripping to earn a wage. Daphne then teases Shane by mentioning she never gets involved with paying customers.

. . .

No 28 - Lounge: Jim and Des sit with Des as he tries to work out how he can continue to financially live in the house. Max arrives and insensitively makes a joke about the wedding being called off. Jim brings the conversation back to Des’s living arrangements and Max suggests getting a lodger. Daphne prepares to leave with Shane following her. Max still angry at her from the previous evenings comments makes remarks about her being a stripper – Daphne then realises he is Shane’s father and snaps back before leaving.

Ramsay Street: Shane does his best to calm Daphne down as she storms off to the car – He apologises about his father but she admits she is angry as it reminded her of how her father used to treat her. Taking time to think Daphne agrees she would like to see Shane again.

. . .

No 26 - Kitchen: Helen uses time alone to do some sketching of one of her plants when Julie interrupts. Julie admits she has spoken to Lorraine who rang her with news that the stripper stayed overnight with Des. Helen points out Daphne only came back in the morning to get her watch. Julie then suggests out loud she might go and see Des – Helen again asks her if she wants to get back in a relationship with Des. Pretending to be shocked Julie assures Helen no. Helen tells her in that case to stay away from Des.

. . .

No 24 - Lounge: Danny is listening to music as Shane finishes getting ready and heads out for his dinner date with Daphne. Max is not happy at Shane seeing Daphne,as she isn’t the right type of girl to be involved with. Max leaves the room and Danny expresses to Maria his father is wrong. Danny then starts mimicking a strippers' performance, pretending to jump out of a cake and starts moving his hips. Maria is in hysterics but Danny then notices his father has reappeared and watching and not happy at all.

. . .

Restaurant: Shane explains to Daphne how he works part time as a gardener to earn money and switches the conversation to learn a bit more about his date. Daphne explains she grew up in New Zealand and has only lived in Australia for 5 years before becoming uncomfortable and changing the subject to ask about Des.
