• Max tells Jim & Anna their relationship is wrong. Jim states to Max he is going to marry Anna whatever. Anna is deeply upset

No 24 - Kitchen: Max, Danny and Shane return from Danny’s training for breakfast but Shane is more enthused about it than Max. Maria announces she wants to throw an engagement party for Jim and Anna and despite Anna’s protests and Max’s objections it is going to happen.

No 26 - Kitchen: The Robinson’s are eating breakfast in Helen’s absence as she is looking after their neighbour Mrs Crowley’s children, as she is sick. Jim is rushing to get to work and mentions about the engagement party, hoping they’ll all be there. Jim wants Julie to see if she can help Maria but Julie makes it clear she doesn’t want to. After Jim leaves, Scott questions Julie about being so against Anna. Julie makes it clear she doesn’t want Jim to marry Anna blaming the lack of time Jim has known Anna for. Paul tells her to face facts that Jim needs more than the family in his life. Paul warns her to stay out of the way at the party and invite Peter Kirk, if he’s still interested in her, to keep her busy.

No 24 - Danny's bedroom: Maria is changing Danny’s bedding when Shane arrives with the vacuum cleaner for her. Shane questions about why she and Max seem so tense as he’d hate for her to leave like she did so many years ago. Maria asks what he remembers and Shane tells her he thought he was on a holiday with Helen. Shane bluntly asks if she still loves Max. Maria tells him she does but fears Max doesn’t believe it.

Pacific Bank: Julie serves Paul as he gets some money from his account. As Paul leaves he meets Peter and invites him to the party at the Ramsay’s at 5.30pm. Peter tells him he hopes he’ll be asked to go. Julie tells Peter she doesn’t feel like going to the party but is persuaded by him

Park: Jim meets Anna as agreed by the park lake to discuss whether they are doing the right thing. Jim tells her they are if all that matters is they love each other. Jim then presents Anna with an engagement ring.

No 24 - Kitchen: Neighbour Carol Brown has arrived early to help Maria with the cooking for the party, even though she admits she’s better at making a salad. Carol mentions she is coming to the party later after getting her children babysat by neighbours at No.4. She also mentions her husband Ted won’t be coming as he’s working late – Carol comments on how his secretary sees more of him than she does. Carol makes reference to Daphne but passes off the reasons why she was enquiring. Anna arrives clearly upset and Maria ushers Carol out of the house. Anna explains Jim doesn’t see the problems around them and worries about coping with it all. Anna admits she was going to tell Jim about returning to Queensland before he gave her the engagement ring. Maria is thrilled and urges her sister to realise that if she walks away she’ll regret splitting up with Jim forever.

No 26 - Lounge: Helen is less than pleased to see Mrs Armitage arrive. Helen learns she is the subject of gossip claiming she has a drink problem – Helen politely asks her nosy neighbour to leave.

Outdoor swimming pool: Danny takes a breather from training with Max and Shane to play fight with Scott. Shane urges his father to let them fool around.

No 26 - Lounge/kitchen: Helen is over getting the Crowley boys their dinner. Julie questions Lucy over how she feels about Jim marrying Anna. Julie scares Lucy into thinking Helen will leave the family and Scott notices his sister’s sad. Scott picks up a letter and realises it is from Kim.

No 26 - Paul and Scott's bedroom: Scott opens the letter as Paul comes in from having a shower. Scott explains Kim has written to say she is okay and to realise he’s not to blame for her running away - she would have done that anyway. Paul hands over an engagement card for Scott to sign and Scott comments on how Julie will not sign it. Paul tells his brother he’s hoping Peter Kirk will one day take their sister away and solve all their problems.

No 24 - Lounge: The engagement party is in full swing and Max is acting as the perfect host topping up glasses with wine. Jim and Anna toast to their happiness and Jim comments to max about the poor weather stopping them getting outside. Jim asks Max to be his Best Man at the wedding but Max declines. Julie and Peter arrive and Julie wants to be away from Anna by talking to neighbours the Murray’s but Paul calls a toast to give Anna and Jim an engagement present and card. Julie makes a point of mentioning she had nothing to do with it.

No 24 - Kitchen: Carol is helping to fill up a bowl with snacks as Shane gets more wine. Shane comments on her husband Ted’s absence and Carol makes it clear it is something that happens a lot these days. Carol changes the subject round to Daphne, commenting on how appalled by her she is. Shane excuses himself not wanting to be part of the conversation. Julie comes to get a coffee and Carol mentions how she is amazed how quickly Jim and Anna have become engaged. Carol picks up on Julie’s agreement and expresses how she would find it difficult to get used to having a stepmother.

No 24 - Lounge: Carol returns to the lounge and talking to Shane and Paul, comments on how not to rush into marriage. Paul changes the subject to talk about her daughter Josie and Carol begins to talk about Ted again and how he’s missing out on her growing up – Shane sends her over to Mrs. Murray to chat. Shane explains he does feel sorry for her as he sees how Ted flirts with other woman at the pool. Maria convinces Max to make a toast and he does so reluctantly. Paul then encourages the room to start singing For They Are Jolly Good Fellows. Julie keeps out of the way.

No 26 - Lounge: Paul returns home to see where his grandmother has got to and finds her in the lounge looking at a brooch. Helen explains she feels so sorry for Jim and Anna having to deal with the problems they’ve encountered. Paul asks her why Julie is reacting so badly. Helen explains Julie has made the family the most important thing in her life and never even considered Jim would want to bring another woman into it and now is trying every way to stop it happening. Paul questions Helen’s own feelings and she assures him both her and his mother would never want to see Jim be alone for the rest of his life. Helen places the brooch in a gift box and they leave for the party.

No 24 - Kitchen: Danny fills up his plate while Max, Anna and a neighbour chat. Carol interrupts to ask Max to clarify if it was his father or grandfather the street was named after. Max proudly tells her it was his grandfather who owned the only house in the area and orchard, before he is taken away by Carol to prove it so she can win $50 in a bet. Helen approaches Anna to give her the brooch as a gift. Excited Anna shows Maria but Julie is furious as it belonged to her mother. Helen reminds her it was her mother’s originally and she can give it to whomever she pleases. Outraged Julie screams at Anna she’s taking everything away from her family and slaps her. Julie rushes from the house and Anna urges Jim to stop from following.

No 26 - Kitchen: Julie storms into the house busying herself to make a coffee. Jim follows in and comments how although he never hit her when she was a kid; he was close to doing so now. Jim demands she go back to No.24 to apologise to everyone. Julie refuses. Jim tells her he is going to marry Anna and if she cannot apologise she is to move out of the house.
