Recap
• Escort Carol Naylor offers her services to Paul
• Danny sneaks into the house, dressed as a chicken
• Jim and Helen are alarmed when Carol, in just a bedsheet, appears in the kitchen

No 26: Paul catches Carol and tells her to go and get dressed. Jim then asks Paul how on earth he could bring someone like that into their home - Paul tries to say that it's none of his father's business, and that it's his home too and he can bring friends home if he wants to. Jim suggests that she's not the type of person that they want in their home, and that Lucy might have seen her. Helen suggests that Paul should take Carol home, but then Lucy appears, wanting to know who that woman is. Helen hands Lucy her lunch and takes her off to school, and Jim furiously tells Paul that this is exactly what he was talking about.

No 24: Madge is in the kitchen and Danny is having breakfast, as Shane comes in and quietly asks his brother what the hell he was doing last night, dressed as a chicken. Danny says that he needs the extra money to take Marcie to Surfer's Paradise, and asks Shane not to say anything to Max. Shane just tells Danny not to get caught - which Madge overhears, and she asks what's going on. Shane quickly makes his excuses and leaves for work.

No 26: Jim is still furious about the situation with Carol and Paul, but Helen says that Paul is very unhappy at the moment, and he probably just made a stupid decision on the spur of the moment. Jim says that he won't hear any excuses, but then Paul and Carol walk into the kitchen, and Paul asks his dad if he can borrow the car. Jim isn't impressed, and Carol says that she doesn't want to cause any drama. She then says that she thought Paul has his own place, as the family thing isn't her scene, and she tells them all that they can carry on their argument once she's gone. Paul then drags her out of the house.

. . .

Ramsay Street: Shane watches from across the street, as Paul drags Carol out of the house, and she shouts at him for the way he's treating her. Paul just tells her to shut up, and they drive off, almost running down Shane in the process.

Ramsay Street: A little later, Danny is running down the street, worried that he's going to miss his bus, when Clive stops him and asks for a word. He says that, after a few more chicken-a-grams, Danny has the potential to go all the way to the top - the gorilla costume. He asks Danny if he's free for a job on Friday, but Danny explains that he has a wedding to go to. Clive tells him to get in touch if he changes his mind, and, as Danny runs off to catch his bus, Clive asks him if Madge is still at home.

No 26: Jim is gazing out of the window, as Helen comes in with one of Scott's drawers and says that she's going to organise all of his odd socks. Jim declares that, if odd socks are the only problem that Scott has, then he's doing a lot better than Paul. Helen thinks that Jim is being harsh, but he points out that he quit his job and now he's hanging around with women like Carol. Helen says that it was just one mistake, and that everyone handles heartbreak in different ways. Tired of Jim ranting, she then walks out of the room.

No 24: Clive arrives to see Madge and she offers him a cup of tea and apologises for Max's recent behaviour. Clive asks if mental illness runs in the family, but Madge explains that Max isn't mad, he's just rude - Clive comments that she must be a saint to put up with him. He then asks her if she'd like a part-time job, answering calls and taking bookings for him. She isn't sure, but when she realises how much Max would hate it, she accepts the offer.

No 26: Paul arrives home, and Jim asks if he's on his own this evening - Paul apologises for what happened. Jim says that an apology isn't enough, but Paul asks if he can just explain - he says that he hasn't been thinking straight lately. Jim becomes increasingly annoyed with his son, until Paul finally snaps and says that nobody is ever good enough for Jim and his perfect ways, telling him that he finds work more important than family, and calling him self-righteous. Jim is very taken aback by this outburst, and he quietly sits down. He says that clearly their problems run a lot deeper than he realised, and that everything he's said has been in an attempt to help. Paul tells him that he's bad enough as a father, but he doesn't want him to become an amateur psychiatrist now too. Their argument is interrupted by Madge letting herself in, looking for Helen. She apologises if she walked in at the wrong moment, but Paul says that it was perfect timing, as he's just leaving. He then slams the door behind him.

. . .

Ramsay Street: Shane and Des are standing outside number 24, chatting, as Paul walks past, but angrily says that he doesn't want to talk. Shane can't understand how Paul could have changed so much lately, and Des tells him about Paul's overnight guest, and that Lucy said that Jim wasn't very happy about it. Shane says that Paul was like this when his mum died too, and Des suggests having a quiet chat with him.

No 26: Madge is telling Helen about her new job with Clive, and Helen laughs as she realises how upset Max is going to be. She says that she hasn't met Clive yet, and Madge offers to introduce them. Helen then suddenly asks if Madge is going to be delivering telegrams, but Madge explains that she'll just be acting as Clive's personal secretary. Jim then walks in and Madge asks him if he'd like to go to a lecture on the history of Erinsborough with her that evening. He isn't too keen on the idea, saying that he has paperwork to do, and Madge complains that she hates going alone. When Helen points out that Jim hardly ever goes out these days, he finally agrees to go, and Madge says that she'll be back at 7pm to pick him up. Helen then asks Jim if he really has paperwork to do, and he says that his earlier argument with Paul has just upset him a bit.

Ramsay Street: Paul is walking home, and Shane calls over and asks if he can have a word. Paul doesn't stop, but says that he's sick of people gossiping about him, though Shane says that he has been acting pretty weird lately. Paul then turns on Shane and says that he was only ever good at diving, and now he's a loser who'll never achieve anything again. As the argument gets more heated, Max walks down to see what's going on, and Shane tells Paul to pull himself together, as everyone's talking about him. Paul then says that they can talk all they want, and if they just need something to gossip about, then he'll give it to them.

. . .

No 26: Paul storms into the house, as Lucy is sitting at the table making a collage. Helen walks in and asks if that was Shane outside - Paul says that he just went completely berserk at him, and he can't understand why. Helen sends Lucy off to the bedroom - though Lucy just goes into the lounge room and listens from behind the wall - then tries to get Paul to talk. Paul says that Shane was just trying to help, but all he could do was shout at him. Helen tells him that most people realise what he's going through and won't hold it against him if he loses his temper a little bit. Paul isn't so sure, but Helen is certain that the proper friendships will survive this. Paul then admits that he feels terrible about the way he's treated Lucy too, and now she's barely speaking to him - Lucy then comes into the room and tells him that she forgives him and she still loves him.

No 24: Madge is preparing dinner and telling Max that Shane shouldn't have been out there brawling in the street, as the Ramsays have a place to uphold within the community. Max says that the whole thing was Paul's fault, and is further annoyed to hear that Madge is going out with Jim. Max reminds her that she's a married woman, but she says that it's only a history lecture, and she tells Max that he's always had a dirty mind.

No 26: Madge arrives, and Helen compliments her on her outfit - Madge quickly says that it's just a history lecture and she'd hate for anyone to misinterpret it. Helen wonders what she's talking about, and Madge says that Max implied that it wasn't appropriate for her to be going out with other men. Jim then appears and tells Madge that they should get going - Paul tries to get a word in with his father, but Jim says that he doesn't have time. Paul looks very disappointed, but Helen reminds him that there's still plenty of time to sort things out.

. . .

No 24: Max is complaining about Madge always sticking her oar in, but Shane says that she's not really that bad - and things were a disaster at the Ramsay house before she arrived. Max says that he's just sick of having every minute of his day organised for him, and Danny agrees that he doesn't like her habit of correcting his grammar. They start on the casserole she left in the oven, and they all admit that at least her cooking is a lot better than Max's. There's a knock at the door - Max answers to Paul, who asks if he can talk to Shane. Max won't let him in, but Shane goes over and tells his dad to sit down. Paul then simply says that he's sorry, and the two men shake hands.
